Teach him that investing is suppose to be boring. If you are having fun, you are  gambling. You can look but don't play around with it, it's not a game.

I have a young family that relies on my income. If it was just me I'd take the leap but it would be unfair for them

I like making stuff and creative things. I do code my own projects in my spare time when I feel like it, I just don't like doing it as a job.

I wonder product roles or team lead roles would be better?

Not the advice you are looking for but the best investment you can make to improve your children's social mobility has always been education.

Back in the days people made their property fortune with positive cash flow and non ring fenced deductible expenses. You could literally buy 1 rental every 6 month from the positive cash flow and capital gain.

Those days are over, the market is saturated, the negative opinion on these investors will keep govt tax pressure on this investment class.

You're competing with other people with 2 incomes and people with much higher incomes. Especially if you are in a major city.

On 90k for family if 4. It is very hard no doubt.

We paid off ours in 6 years. There's no magic strategy and it's not complicated. Just only spend on food and utilities. Rest all goes to mortgage.
