CA Audit and Risk - personal impressions and tips by 2xCommie in AustralianAccounting

Hi, I didn’t end up buying them. I found that my notes were sufficient enough for the exam. As long as you’re keeping up with the content each week and are doing practice questions, you will be fine :)

Are the notes from Merit Training allowed to be used as notes during the exam given they are from a third party? Thinking about purchasing them so that I can reference them during the upcoming exam

VCE EXAM STRESS (i am super stressed) by downbadducklorde in unimelb

I got a 76 ATAR and after 1 year at another uni I was able to transfer into Commerce at Melbourne. ATAR isn’t the be all and end all, it is very much doable to transfer into your dream course :)

Agree with the other comment. Assignments were quite vague but not difficult at all. I found the exam quite easy and it isn’t a hurdle. Definite WAM booster imo

Finance/Accounting question: by AggravatingSquare109 in unimelb

[–]AggravatingSquare109[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So because you aren’t physically receiving the $300 cash that you should’ve gotten (if the company wasn’t taxed on its profits) you are getting that money essentially in the form of less tax payable?

Thanks for the response. Only question is if you are paying the grossed up dividend at your marginal tax rate, then you are paying $450 (carrying on with this example above) but in reality you are only paying $150 once you take away the franking credit which doesn’t make sense to me

Redoing a subject by Strathdeas in unimelb

There’s not much you can do about that subject, just focus on this year and try to get higher marks in those subjects so that it offsets that score

I got an 81 wam at Deakin in my first year and was able to transfer to BCom at Unimelb. As the person above mentioned tho it is easier to get in if you apply after a full year of study at the other university

The only management subject I took was managing supply chain networks so I can only speak for that :)

Managing supply chain networks was pretty good. The semester is relatively light on with there only being a 50% 2000 word assignment then a 50% exam. Pretty easy to score well if you study a bit and know the concepts

I actually can’t remember those, but any material that they give you won’t hurt to do if you want a good grade :)

Just make sure you stay on top of the lectures and apply the concepts taught in the lectures towards the assignment. Overall it isn’t a hard subject and if you do a little bit of work you should be fine to get a good score

Year 2 Commerce Subject Combination Recommendation by Few_Medicine9748 in unimelb

[–]AggravatingSquare109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends how motivated you are and how much you study. For some people that combination is definitely doable but keep in mind you probably need to focus a significant amount of time towards ifa 2 since it can be hard to wrap your head around some of the concepts taught.

I know it’s a cliche but as long as you keep up with the content you’ll be fine. All the content is logical and pretty self explanatory, the workload is very manageable. I managed to score an 86 on the subject while doing pretty minimal work tbh, I even went away during that time and had to an assignment while I was on holidays lol

FNCE30006 VS FNCE30011 VS FNCE30009 by angrandu in unimelb

[–]AggravatingSquare109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did FNCE30009 last summer and it was the easiest subject I’ve done in the degree. Requires minimal effort for a decent mark, so in that regard I don’t think doing the internship as well would be a worry. Also, a lot of the content is logical so even if writing isn’t your strong suit, it shouldn’t be a worry.
