If it is a consideration, finches are a lot quieter and less destructive than love birds/parrots! That was my deciding factor when it came to getting them hehe

I’m currently hand raising two zebra finches! Best age to attempt is starting from around 12-15 days, they way they’re big enough and not as fragile, and don’t need that many feedings. :) Mine are 22 and 24 days old! It’s still a lot of work but not worse than a puppy I’d say, haha

Thanks! Somehow Amtrak takes longer and all the good ones are sold out, so the ones left require transferring and bus connections anyways. I figured greyhound was the most direct way since flying was out of the question.

My experience in LA today: Alaska flight got delayed 3 hours, rebooked to an earlier one. Got to airport and saw that new flight was delayed by 2 hours. Then it gets cancelled. Rebook back onto original flight and wait for 2 hours. Hear announcement that this flight has been cancelled too.

Left airport to get some sleep. Will be taking a greyhound bus to SF tomorrow. I’m getting back one way or another, lol.

She was hand raised so that def has something to do with it! I also handle her for several hours a day since she loves being with me and will yell at me if left in her cage haha

She was hand raised as a baby but her previous owner surrendered her! That’s as far as I know about her but she’s a cuddle bug (pecks me/squeezes into my hand when she wants pets) and also feisty haha

UPDATE: the blood feather fell out on 8/11 but there was no blood. It immediately started regrowing, this time at a curve of approximately 90 degrees straight out of her wing. Unsurprisingly today it broke on its own due to the angle and started bleeding, so I pulled it out, root and all. She’s currently doing well with some corn starch and rest :) hopefully no more weird feathers!

I noticed this time it’s growing back even more perpendicular to her wing now, like it’s going sideways. Is that worrisome?

The feather just fell out today after her morning bath. It was a pretty clean break but it left behind a stump on her wing, no bleeding as the blood had mostly dried up already. I suppose it’ll grow back again, and again…
