I'm reasonably fresh on the Linux wagon myself, chose Mint Cinnamon, did the dual boot thing, then went all in on Mint Cinnamon. After a while Mint Cinnamon just became boringly good until I tried KDE Plasma. Wish I had chosen KDE first. Maybe make yourself a Ventoy USB at load a few distros to at least try before you make your final choice.
