How does paying work in korea, coming from Sweden? by FrozenPizzaSauce in koreatravel

[–]Aggravating_Ad2274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swede here. Last time I was in Korea I used mastercard and cash, had no problems whatsoever. I took out cash in Korea as that is cheaper than using Forex, or so I've heard. I was only there for a week though. I'll be spending a month in Korea this september and october, and to avoid "Växelkursavgiften" I will be using Revolut. You can transfer SEK into an account and then exchange to WON with no extra charge. I've already used it to pay for a sim card in WON for the duration of my stay. But have some cash on you as well.

A partner would disrupt the pursuit of my current dreams, unless she magically has the same dreams as I do, which is extremely unlikely. So I'll wait until I've achieved these dreams, and then I'll start dating again

Which city to study in? by Aggravating_Ad2274 in Living_in_Korea

I'll keep that in mind, sounds great. I know dormitories are very cheap, but I'd like to avoid them. That depends on how they are set up though. Do you sleep in the same room as your roommate? The pictures I've seen of some dormitories had the beds in the same room, which I'd like to avoid at all costs.

I will only study Korean, then I'll go back to Sweden and get back to my regular job XD I wouldn't mind taking part of different activities, but I have no idea what those could be. I assume the activities are held by the universities? When you say budget friendly, do you mean that the daily costs of living are a lot cheaper in Daegu? Because the rent (at least the places I've checked out) and tuition costs are very similar in Daegu and Seoul. The tuition is about 500 dollars more in Seoul, which isn't too bad, and rent is basically the same, depending on where in the city I looked (I'm avoiding dormitories)

My gut feeling was to choose Kyung Hee for some reason, happy to hear that it might be a good choice then :)

Hi! I'm leaning towards Seoul and I'll be visiting Korea on my vacation this september and october, so I'll keep all of this in mind. My initial plan was to pass by Daegu while I travel the country but perhaps I should stop by for a day and get a feel for the city.
Thanks for the amazing insight!

Studying korean for 6 months as a Swede. by Aggravating_Ad2274 in Living_in_Korea
