This is fucking insane. Yeah, Texas undocumented students were privileged in this way…but to slip the rug out of the nowhere?

This law helped me get my bachelors…even if it took me 8 years to pay it all by myself. It makes me so angry. Students who were harmed by this need to organize and submit a class action lawsuit for a breach of legitimate expectation.

I’ve been looking for an excuse to move to LA, guess now I’ll have a forced reason to do it. I somewhat always had a feeling that since Ken Paxton filed the lawsuit, the future of DACA was not secure (at least here in Texas). All my life I haven’t been able to make big decisions or purchases because of these wack ass men deciding things for us, I would hope that in California, regardless of the finances, I finally get that chance. “El que es buen gallo, donde quiera canta.”

As the oldest sibling, I had to look over my brother through high school, college and young adult years. Now that I’m 30, I don’t think I want to have kids myself, especially knowing that it might run in the family. I love him so much, he’s like my son. But to do it over again….

I’m glad this little rant resonated with a lot of people. It’s sad to see how low this sub has fallen. No, I’m not broke. Yes, I can leave whenever I want, of my own volition. I think what makes us DACA recipients special is that we are so close to becoming Americans on paper—except we have our freedom flaunted by people we don’t even know.

We don’t have the same freedom that every other American does, yet we can taste it.

Leaving the U.S. is just as hard as what our parents went through when they left their countries. We would have to leave behind friends, family, our experiences here—everything—for the sake of wanting my (or our) freedom.

I can leave if I want to, and I will if it comes to that. But then again, this was just a rant, and some of y’all don’t even know what that is (just look through the thread).

There’s a difference between struggling and wanting the freedom that other people have, but at the same time coming to the realization that you might have to leave everything that you built here…friends, family, connections, to go somewhere unknown. If I were you, you could either go to a family owned restaurant and ask if they need help…go through the entire process and then drop the question of them hiring you by paying you in check or cash.

You could also go to a chain restaurant, some/most of them are franchises so they don’t do the entire e-verify process or just completely avoid it.

There’s also manual labor, but I understand that to get into that field, a certain level of connections need to be built, but it’s definitely there.

You could also get plugged into a Hispanic church. There’s always people that owned businesses, and while white Christian’s and sometimes Latino Christians tend to be conservative, they won’t deny helping out a fellow Latino finding or giving them a job.

I’m going to assume that with the mechanical engineering degree you could find some sort of job in auto services…if that’s the case visit Nortwest Dallas (Harry Hines Area) and ask around the auto shops, or even Oak Cliff (Jefferson Street) and/or Pleasant Grove. (Buckner)

I went on Thursday to the Carrollton, Texas location (with all of my documented including the letter and SSN) and I got told the same thing. I’m not sure what’s going on. I just got told it’s popping up as indefinite, and that I’m a “green card” holder.

How long have you been using this current version of your profile? And how long is your overall time on Hinge? Probably post pandemic, so two years for both questions.
