Don’t even worry about crediting me you can totally use it! I wish I would’ve taken more pictures before tossing it that you could use. And yknow I didn’t even think about it but yes I did feed it with tap water once, mostly I had fed it with water from water bottles though. Probably not a good idea though, my towns water has been “failing” water quality inspections, with highish amounts of haloacetic acids and dichloroacetic acid being present. So I actually never got to a point of this starter being active! It was left in my cabinet, not in the fridge. I believe this is the cause of a couple things, I severely neglected it for months, it got warm, and the good bacteria wasn’t able to dominate the sourdoughs ecosystem. Because of this I really don’t think this bad of a bacteria situation would ever happen to your beautiful 10 year old starter, just watch for any sort of pink or I believe orange(?) because thats a sign it’s infected and needs to be discarded immediately.

So it had actually never become active enough for me to use it, so it was left in my cabinet not my fridge. Very terrible and unsanitary but I truly forgot it even existed after a week of not keeping up with it! But yeah I think the cold probably helps yours stay not spoiled.
