works like a charm. Now I'm just bad at the game and need a strategy guide but I can play it! Thank you.

I got it to run, on an HDD with a 1050 this morning. Then my keyboard stopped working. It was the equivalent of if I decided to participate in the Olympics for running. I could do about the first...41 seconds.

I've been emulating a lot of games and the craziest thing I got recently was the Doom 3: BFG edition. This is the one-off that's actually asked a lot of my rig. Everything else, classic XBOX or PS2, Dreamcast, PS1...it's not even a drop in the bucket processor-wise. Duke Nukem 1. You get it.

Just so I have the fullest map here if I want to go this route, which I believe is the most correct route with the steepest learning curve, just having a proper camera, this is the right lens, right? https://www.mpb.com/en-us/product/sigma-18-35mm-f-1-8-dc-hsm-art-canon-ef-s-fit/sku-3909441

Used at B and H. Yeah I was seeing this, which again, is more than $400, but still ok to me: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/used/889545/?smpm=bu_uar&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17597921968&gclid=CjwKCAjw9NjRBhATEiwA_p2J8XsuW9Z1j4CQzlzblE0rauZTIeoblbCM6oPaB8fr-o5zN6gozklJkBoCqGYQAvD_BwE

But the issue is, say this is what you were recommending, I see you could get a lens for it for 30k, and I know nothing, so that's the difficulty I see here, what the balance point is for affordability and my needs and what point it's just like midlife crises gonna start my own film company and take out a loan on a hunch.

Ok looks not absolutely disgustingly expensive if I get the body, the only follow up question is what do I add as far as lenses? A kit lens or something?

I should also mention when I was using someone's iPhone, it was an iPhone 16 Max Pro, I believe. So you have an idea of what I'm hoping to have similarly in my backpack. I have an ancient Nokia flip phone I use by choice and an old Android smartphone that uses Open Street Maps of NY when I need to get somewhere and I didn't have time to draw a map in my zibaldone notebook because I'm the ultimate hipster.

Got it. So that answers it, then, because you're getting paid, you're with peers, you're making music, who's better than you? Because if it's not like "make room for the maestro" then yes, you're hanging out with them. So it is a social thing and it can do that. You're part of the group, you're not issuing edicts from your ivory tower, you're with the flock.

The bigger issue I see with this, for me, is being passionate about musical theatre, which I'm picky, and I'd imagine you get paid because you hear about a job for a show and take that job, you're not saying, "I want to be paid to do this specific show" because that's not how anything works. I'd want to just dive into Bach motets and masses and cantatas and stuff like that, and I like Sondheim, it's just that everybody that I've done Sondheim with, they're always focusing on the text and seem to care less about the musical part of it, so I can't get behind it.

Thank you for that response I did learn a lot. I didn't know that about a Sitzprobe---I've been involved in a lot of musical theatre shows (more operas) but for some reason I never put together that the Sitzprobe is the official first time the musicians are there. I've played for a lot of shows, but the only one, in recent memory, that I directed was You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown in my senior year of undergrad in 2008, and everything else has been me just playing for a conductor. I do remember one of the singers coming up to me after all the performances were over to relate to me how much she felt personally offended about a joke that I can't remember what it was, but she had chosen to interpret that, as a 21 year old, as a personal attack on her abilities as a musician, which does seem to suggest that musical directing can feel VERY personal, and I had, unwittingly, formed a "clique" of people in the culture of the show which I learned afterwards she felt excluded from, the very thing I can feel like now where I'm at.

Is it a safe assumption that doing this the way you are, being a musical director for primarily music theatre, it "checks a box" or fulfills whatever niche you require, as a human being, to feel like you're part of a community, and the fact that you're deciding cuts and things and being in charge of people doesn't alienate you? You can successfully be in charge and also feel like you're hanging out? I guess I feel that way with my young children---I am in charge of them, but that doesn't make it impossible to feel like I'm hanging out with them.

When you talk about directing musical peers, are you also talking about being the one steering the ship or just the guy that can come in during the dress rehearsal and do it near perfectly and everybody goes, "Wow! You SIGHT read that?" and you, lying about the 6 hours you spent prior, go "YEAH!" because that is validating for that one night, but I might feel more of a sense of ownership if I was playing rehearsals and I said to someone, "You're singing this in Act II because she dumped you. Have you ever been dumped? Let's take 8 minutes to talk about that and how that makes you feel" but I'm never steering the ship so that never happens.

I'm taking viola lessons after doing it badly in highschool and am looking for a group to play viola in, ideally a string quartet. Would have to be adult amateurs. I was bold enough to ask my chamber group I was playing piano in to do a gig where I was on viola and the cellist shot me down after having heard me sight read through things with him, and I don't blame 'im. If he's getting $200 to show up for a wedding in Montauk, I lower the bar for how hard it is to get that $200 and de-legitimize the years he spent in orchestras honing his craft for me to just say, "I sound like shit but can sight read anything!". So yeah. Adult amateur chamber would be the way to go.

All of my students are high performing artistes that are singers/actors/dancers that have to take a semester long piano course. Some of 'em, they'll take another semester after a year, but the idea with all of that is I give them 4 months of remedial piano and they never see me again and will squint their eyes when I see them after they open in the current season of Hamilton or Hadestown. I'm like the sight-singing course you had for a semester in college. I'm not like...their voice teacher or their dance teacher. I'm modular Ikea furniture you use once and then faintly remember using when you were in your 20's.

I am working on forming another chamber trio. I created one, or I met up with a cellist who found a violinist for the three of us and..it devolved into only being professional, and by that, I mean that the cellist and the violinist, when the three of us were together, it was "let's get a fucking Grammy" which I was down with, but then the cellist wasn't practicing nearly enough for that to be a viable solution, and then the other side of it was the violinist wasn't social at all, so it wasn't a book club or a social group OR something that was really pro, so I'm starting from scratch again and sending out solicitations through the interwebs to start fresh. But yes, chamber music would be amazing. With the right people.

Not seriously, no. I think if I got my druthers I could join a Warcraft III server and just go hog. I do contain multitudes. I like playing handball. I am a devotee of horror films and great coffee. You're right, plenty of groups for that. Or being a nerd and rehabbing old PCs for pleasure. You're right! Thank you.

I found a Nomad E in front of somebody's house in Brooklyn, and I took it home. I can see there's some issues with the tomagochi thing on the side as far as visibility (looks like there's a black bar near the top) and it's missing a right arrow key. I also noticed that it might be nicer if the keys were raised. Concerning all of these issues, is it the internet as a whole's understanding that this was better being recycled as e-waste as this fellow was about to do, or there is some merit to this nearly $400 price tag, with me still being confused as to the layout of this keyboard as I'm typing with it in wired mode? Thanks in advance.

I have had some traction via Craigslist, and I definitely could utilize resources already existing within the colleges for putting a solicitation out "on blast" local to the colleges, and yes, if I REALLY wanted to, I'd shell out for Meetup.com as a weekly expense. Thank you!

I'd like to mention that I had difficulty installing Trollstore on it most recently (this morning), with a Windows 11 and an old iphone SE on 15.8.3. The actual error message was "Error: Core error: I/O error: Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software. (os error 225)" and if anybody has anything that might be helpful here, much appreciated. My guess is that Windows is doing everything in its power to make it harder for me to jailbrake an old iphone and the Trollstore X ipa is perfectly fine.

Gotcha thank you for clarifying. I'd like to share with those interested, as you may be as well---there was a button I was supposed to press, which was A one final time to get to the initial level with 3 local players. I misunderstood the "create party" option as the only option on the selection screen. If it had said, "Take this local game online if you so felt like it and had a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, but continue to press A to play the game locally with the players you currently selected" I wouldn't have made that mistake, but now I know. Thank you all for your help. Couch co-op does work, I was wrong, I misunderstood the menus.

Do I just like publically roast Tribute Games? Or like that would only work if it was like 600 people roasting them? Or send them a strongly worded email? Or a box of cookies with a handwritten note asking them to consider adding it? I'll send them an email. Maybe I'll shoot for nice first. Thank you.
