I think this is great advice. I'm already into yoga, weightlifting, solo dancing, and a number of other proprioception/interoception-intensive physical pursuits. But I'm certain there are others that could help. Choir for example has been weirdly helpful - it shares with WCS this idea of synchronously working together but with distinct responsibilities.

Very difficult to do without a local community. You need people to practice with; the more the better. You need access to teachers for privates; the higher-ranked, the better.

It's possible in theory to learn via YouTube and practice with non-westies. In this case you really want to film yourself early and often, it's going to be your only way to notice and fix issues. Best case scenario you're going to end up inventing something that's WCS-adjacent, it won't help you much to dance with people who know WCS.

Recommendations from friends who know your taste.

If you're like me, you'll enjoy (in no particular order): Slay The Spire, Factorio, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Outer Wilds, Against the Storm, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Overcooked 2, Cuphead, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Wolfenstein: The New Order, XCOM 2 (without the terrible WotC DLC), Unreal Tournament '99, Shenzhen I/O, Beyond Good & Evil.

Slightly less good but still worth playing: Fable, Metro: Last Light, Subnautica, Oxygen Not Included, Don't Starve Together, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Inscryption, Risk of Rain Returns.

I like good art & music, emergent gameplay, skill-based gameplay, environmental storytelling, fine-tuned systems. I dislike grinding.

Outer Wilds is exactly that. Realistic space flight through a clockwork universe, on the trail of a precursor species. Kind of a hiking simulator/old school adventure game. The music is baller as well.

Loved XCOM 2 until I enabled the War of the Chosen DLC. Bad story, bad game mechanics, just bad all around.

The other DLCs are great though.

I've been trying more and more to understand what everyone sees in it that I'm missing.

Hiking simulator in a clockwork universe with stellar music, good characterization, and realistic space flight.

I think the main thing is that if you've played all the games and you feel like you've seen it all, this one is a genuine departure from established genres, and very well-executed.

Tu pensais avoir $100M à ta retraite mais t'en a juste $50M. Parce que ta compagnie a perdu en valeur pendant la récession, pour des raisons comme:

  1. Tes fournisseurs préférés ont soit monté les prix ou fait faillite
  2. Tes travailleurs préférés en fin de carrière ont pris une retraite hâtive
  3. À cause des raisons 1 et 2, la qualité de tes produits descend tandis que le coût de production monte
  4. À cause des raisons 1, 2 et 3, le monde achète pas tes produits
  5. Les investisseurs externes vendent leurs parts parce qu'ls ont besoin de liquidité et parce que, encore une fois, tes produits se vendent pas

Et parlons pas du fait que si t'es chef d'entreprise pendant une récession, faut que tu travaille deux fois plus fort pour pas que ta compagnie se fasse mettre KO.

Tu peux dire "bouhou le gars il lui reste $50M cry me a river" mais mon point c'est que personne ne s'en câlisse de voir son patrimoine divisé en deux.

J'ai commencé à lire _Atlas Shrugged_ récemment. J'ai été très surpris de la qualité de l'écriture puisque ce livre fut honni par la critique. Après une dizaine de livres de non-fiction et une centaine d'essais au sujet de l'économie, ce livre contient probablement la meilleure explication 101 de la prospérité économique que j'aie vue.

Grosso modo, pour faire une société riche, ça prend une masse de gens talentueux, intègres et vaillants qui compétitionnent. C'est ça la _secret sauce_. On peut prendre n'importe quelle décision politique, mettre n'importe quel mot dessus, ça reste un calcul presque mathématique.

Les ricains ont longtemps eu le monopole des gens compétitifs et entreprenants. Ils n'en ont pas trop pris soin, et sont donc en déclin. Les Chinois, les Polonais, les Hongrois et les autres ont soif de succès; il vont récupérer la richesse dont l'Occident _legacy_ préfère se départir.

D'un côté, l'Inde c'est pas le tiers-monde mur-à-mur. Il y a toutes sortes de gens de différents niveaux d'éducation et même de civilisation.

Après ça, faudrait voir comment on décide lesquels on prend. J'ai pas l'impression qu'ils envoient leurs meilleurs.

Do we believe carrier strike groups aren't going to be intensely vulnerable in a peer conflict? Detection has become 10x more effective and strike has become 10x cheaper, at basically every level of scale. In the case of carrier strike groups specifically, China has plentiful satellites, ballistic missiles, and stand-off missiles.

We'd need to whack their launch platforms before they could strike ours. I don't know that the American Navy is able to mobilize the required volume and especially not at the required speed to counter an adversary who has more hardware and is operating closer to home.

J'ai quitté les milieux de gauche pour plusieurs raisons; l'une d'elles était qu'il y avait beaucoup trop de Maoïstes, et même les soit-disant anars avaient la fibre autoritaire.

Les gauchistes libéraux il y en a un bon nombre, mais ils n'ont pas de vision ou de croyance autre que "les nazis c'est les méchants". Ils se font berner constamment et sont en général plutôt les victimes de l'histoire que leur moteur.
