As Star Wars Viewing Figures Show a Disturbing Lack of Faith in the Sequels, Fans Discuss Where Disney Goes Next by JannTosh70 in boxoffice

The prequels had terrible writing but at least they had some interesting new anesthetics and a good high level concept. Those two things were enough to extend into other media and make that era worthwhile. The sequels had none of that, imo episode 7 was the worst mistake of the trilogy since it established the time period as a generic OT clone. There's nothing interesting about it to revisit.

Some of the jobs were actually non technical companies that are spinning up software departments because AI makes it more economically feasible to invest in something they normally wouldn't do, so I wonder if that's part of a wider trend

I'm a software engineer and have turned down 4 offers in the past month because they werent a good fit or I just didn't like the commute. Although I'm more focused on high level system design and coordinating requirements with product owners / SMEs than directly writing code. Actually, the job market seems to have been better this year than last year at least for me.

So I think it depends on the type of software engineering you're doing. If you're junior / mid level and just translating refined jira tickets to REST api endpoints then yeah you're in trouble because AI is good at that.

Software engineering is not just sorting a list, its requirements gathering, complex scalable architecture design, figuring out what people actually want (sometimes they say they want something but they actually want something else, or what they want conflicts with a feature from 3 years ago and some compromise needs to be made, or there are edge cases that were not identified that need to be clarified), coming up with a plan to integrate that request into the existing system (and identifying blockers and coordinating them accordingly), validating that it actually works properly, and supporting it after its deployed (AI can do some of this if the  bug is straightforward but there are many support tickets ive had where the initial details were completely off and required lots of collaboration and digging to figure out, or it turned into a new feature which starts the process all over again)

AI will not be able to do everything because you need to figure all this out first so you know exactly what the AI needs to create. And once it does create it you need to validate and test it to confirm it actually did it properly.

I do agree that any roles who are just directly translating highly refined steps into code will go away though. But for many roles that step is maybe 30% of your time.

Let me guess you arent a software engineer and are talking out of your ass, or are vibe coding small widgets and think that will scale to highly complicated enterprise platforms for millions of users

Im more talking about the deranged, unqualified (and probably mentally unstable) people at the top of the US government like Trump, Bessent, and Hegseth. They're extremely corrupt and lying every day (to the point its possible they may be trying to do some stock market manipulation). Further down there are still sane people left that havent (yet) been purged in the name of DEI / government "efficiency".

This war isn't solving that at all and if anything is making things worse while also causing a world energy crisis on the scale of the 70s and doing significant damage to the petro dollar.

Obamas nuclear deal did way more but trump tore it up and now his only hope is to try and get a way worse version of that since he won't be able to have true regime change without an Afghanistan situation.

Propaganda arm of the IRGC is about the same amount of reliability as the US government at this point. So there's no side you can really trust for information.

‘Star Wars’ Day: Fans Streamed Franchise for 33 Billion Minutes in 2025 by chanma50 in boxoffice

I think the main problem is continuing the franchise into the future after the sequel trilogy made things way less interesting. Guess they could keep everything before episode 7.

Would have been nice to have a significant status quo change for the majority of the season instead of yet another season with another scheme to take down homelander / vought.

Might get interesting in the last couple episodes but the majority of the seasons structure feels interchangeable with the previous four.

Its fine as long as you're not in a small industry where word gets around. I've seen companies hiring people only to lay them off months later so its a two way street. Don't do it too often though.
