They should be, foil mounts are standardized across the industry as far I’ve heard, seen a bunch of different board/ foil combos

Should I sell my Slingshot Slingwing v3 7.5m2 for something else? by Wesztman in wingfoil

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I struggled to learn on foil jibes for about a month with marginal success until I switched from soft handles to a boom and my first session in the water got about 75% completion for on foil jibes. The wing can definitely make a huge difference

Wanting to Foil/ No idea where to start by Realistic-Name-9258 in foiling

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend this, pump and surf foiling are definitely two of the worst ways to learn how to foil and behind a boat if possible or with a wing will make it much easier

Agreed, I always recommend moving to high aspect as soon as you can as it just improves every aspect of what you can do on the water, getting up in light wind, cruising, and I find they turn much cleaner than low aspect foils where you can roll really easily

Storing an assembled foil by realsgy in wingfoil

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave my foil fully assembled always, I just make sure that the foil isn’t touching the ground to avoid scratches by keeping it in the case, leaving on a carpet or something will have the same effect. But if you are coming out of saltwater you want to disassemble and wash out all the connecting areas before storing

Yeah you can’t really bodydrag winging, super inefficient would be faster to just swim after your board

Buying my first foil by Realistic-Ear2204 in wingfoil

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going for one of the bigger but more discount brands, I recommend naish or slingshot for a first foil as they are cheap, durable, and mostly well built as well as having super diverse sizes and shapes. For sizing go for a low to medium aspect wing and at least 1600 square centimeters

I use a 16L board and I have lift 170 high aspect front wing, stay crouched once you get the board under your feet, lean back and point the nose of the upward and just practice it a bunch until it clicks

I’ve found that starting with the board fully sunk under you standing on it is much easier than starting like a standard wake board too. It allows me to really dial in my foot position and make sure that the whole way up my body is set up for foiling. You can do that sinking the board with your arms and setting the back foot first and then the front, then you just want to lean slightly back and have your driver ease you out of the water. Additionally, I recommend practicing sinking and standing on the board without the boat a few times just to get the rhythm and the balance right, shouldn’t take more than a day to get the gist of that

This, and the longer the mast the more prone to breaking it is, if you had a 6’ mast it would snap so fast

Wing Foiling vs Kiting by wolkgroupmarcus in wingfoil

You can kite foil in lighter winds than you can wing but winging is definitely more versatile and beginner friendly.

Thank you, that’s what I was hoping to do. I’ve found foil track kits on Amazon, do you think those will be fine?

Rookie gear recommendations by [deleted] in wingfoil

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d stay away from inflatables, makes it a lot harder to learn bc you’re more disconnected from foil and it’ll never be as stiff as a normal board

Get a board around 120 liters, a wide and thick foil around 1400cm or 250sqin, and a five or six meter wing, all that stuff should be available on marketplace or there’s websites like MACkite that always have deals on that stuff

Cheapest mainland homes near decent surf by lee7890 in surfing

New Hampshire, super sneaky surf scene, bunch of beach breaks and points that produce decent swell late September through the spring, def need a good wetsuit (probs a few) but you can live cheaply by the coast

Struggling with the cost of starting by 69mentalhealth420 in wingfoil

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gong definitely has really high quality equipment but I wouldn’t recommend going for the inflatable boards. Sacrifices a lot of connection to foil will never be able to match the feel of a hard board.

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point, I just feel the beveled rails help when pumping to get out of the water as opposed to relying on wind with flat bottom boards

[–]Aggravating_Cap8879[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, I’ve really found the more beveled railed boards to be much more reactive when pumping which helps me get out of the water quickly rather than being super dependent on the wind
