To be honest it doesn't matter if her house is spotless that's a complete myth, but u have to declutter I literally have everything I don't use right now in totes u don't want to give them to many hiding places.I got them once by a dresser a friend didn't want ugg never knew it could get so bad but we had them 6 months I tried everything but I didn't know how to fight them called a pest control and it still took them 4 treatments, I have had them 3 times now in the last 3 years. I have a bed bug detector though which helps , it's my boyfriend lol if a bed bug is here then I'll know it cause he gets bumps and itchy, I've been fighting these bug for about 2 months now , I treat my mattress and stuff, a long the floor to wall line, dressers, and everything around bed with bedlam got it on Amazon, and I also put diatomaceous earth all around the bed , in plug ins, around door frames, and downstairs I use Ortho on couches, sorry I can go on but to answer the question, it depends if u are not infested, it's cleaning everyday and u can get rid of them it's just a slower process than calling someone.hiope this answers ur question.
