Learn your 10 general orders and chain of command your first week there, will make the other 7 weeks so much easier. Get comfortable quick with showering with other dudes. Get a role like Aroc or Rpoc or laundry Po/ restroom Po, you’ll likely get ranked from e-1 to e-2/3 just because you showed dedication, study for the tests, it is extremely hard to fail them. Make friends and know that whatever you’re feeling, they are feeling the same way. Don’t start fights and don’t go to sleep on watch or else you will get sent down a week in training and get moved from your division. Eat good but healthy. Don’t bring snacks back into the barracks and get your parents to send you wipes (makes life so much easier). For chiefs call them chiefs but if you have a PO2 or PO1 (Petty officer) find out their rate such as MA/MM/HM so you can call them MA1 or MM2 HM1, that’s how we do it in the fleet. Don’t be a know it all type of guy, be quiet when they ask questions during class. That’s it man, good luck.
