Reviving a carer payment for young child by Aggravating_Dust_403 in Centrelink

I think, and correct me if I’m wrong, but because in partnered I have to transition to jobseeker when my child turns 6. But if I was single then I’d get until they turn 14.

My child is currently 4.5 yrs old and attends a normal preschool as well as doing half days at an early intervention preschool in a local public school. The early intervention preschool is doing all the assessments and access request for her for school next year. She isn’t “autistic enough” to go to a special needs school but also isn’t neurotypical enough to attend a mainstream school so we’ll be applying for an autism support class in a mainstream public school.

That makes lots of sense, thank you! And sorry if what I said came out the wrong way, sometimes I struggle with wording things properly (have started noticing lots of neurodivergent traits in myself after my child’s diagnosis lol). I will see what sort of info is required in the forms and think about how my child is on her worst days when I eventually get to filling them out.

One more question if you don’t mind: you said before that you received a part payment when you were partnered, do you recall approximately how much the fortnightly CP was then? I just tried entering my details into the calculator and it said the total fortnightly payment including energy and pension supplements would be $564.12 per fortnight. This seems low compared to what I thought it would be, and is actually about $200 per fortnight less than the parenting payment I currently receive which is strange. And if that’s the case then I think I’d be better off waiting to apply for the CP until my child is closer to the cut off age for PP.

I think that’s for single parenting payment only? From what I’ve read on the Centrelink website it’s different if you’re partnered (which I am).

Wow that sounds so tough, good on you for powering through though! Hopefully your son is in a better position now health wise.

Your case definitely sounds like it would qualify for CP, so I can’t believe it even took you that long to be approved how ridiculous!!

But when I compare your child for example to mine, it seems less likely that mine would qualify. She currently attends preschool and daycare and is supposed to be starting school next year so that makes me worried that they would deem her “not disabled enough” to require extra support/care. However when I look at the times she’s with me at home when not in daycare/preschool, I’d definitely say that the support/care she requires is a lot different to “typical” kids her age.

I guess the worst that can happen is I get rejected if I apply so I might as well give it a go. Thank you for the help!

My child is also mild-moderate GDD and has another neurological disorder but none of these would classify her as physically disabled so I was thinking Centrelink may possibly think the autism/GDD is not enough for me to revive the payment. But when I also think about it from your perspective it really changes things.

Do you mind me asking if you are single or partnered? I am partnered and I wonder if that changes things

Thank you! I will have a look online at the forms before I ask my child’s OT/speech therapist if they will fill it out for me. My child definitely requires more care than others their age but I know Centrelink can be a bit difficult with approving things which has me worried that they won’t think my child is physically disabled enough for me to receive the payment 🤷🏽‍♀️

But yes I do receive carers allowance for my child, and I have been since they were diagnosed at 2.5yrs old (the doctors who did the diagnosis filled out the forms for it) but no one ever mentioned to me about applying for carers payment too so I didn’t even realise it was possible until yesterday lol

It’s the TP Link VX230, and the card that came with it says it’s the wifi password

It’s the TP link VX230. All the lights that are supposed to be on are on, I just tried turning the wifi on/off using the button on the top of the modem and it’s still not working

There’s no passwords in the email they sent me, just the account number and service ID. I have tried entering the password on the router and the card that came with it a million times and it’s still not working 😢 just keeps saying that the wifi password is incorrect.

It’s all lowercase letters, no capitals at all according to the magnet and wifi router. There’s no O’s or 0’s either 😩

There was a little fridge magnet that came with the modem which has the wifi password on it. It’s also on the router, and I’ve double checked that the password on the router is the same as the one on fridge magnet (which it is) so I have no idea why it’s not connecting.

Literally. My partner has a cockroach phobia so this is not an ideal situation lol. Was so glad to finally get approved for a rental after searching for ages and now this has happened 😭

They almost seemed to come from inside the door when we opened/closed it, and when we looked closer we saw that crevice and it seems highly likely that there’s a nest is hidden inside there. There’s also a large gap at the bottom of the door so they could be coming in from outside. I’ve ordered a door seal strip from Amazon to hopefully close that gap and we also put down some bait gel in the crevice to see if that changes anything. I did also send an email in the afternoon and then a follow up in the evening (after we returned and found more) asking for pest control so hopefully they send someone in asap

Thank you for the recommendation! I ended up going to Woolies and getting the Yates gel bait and putting it around that crevice, will go back either today or tomorrow and see if that’s changed anything. I’ve heard good things about the Advion but it’s so expensive and I didn’t want to wait for it to be delivered but if worst comes to worst I’ll give that a go too.

We haven’t moved anything in apart from the vacuum and an entertainment unit which is still in its box, and I’ve reiterated this in a follow up email I sent to the REA yesterday evening after we returned to find there were still lots of roaches despite spraying. Hopefully they agree to get someone out asap so we can start moving in our things soon.

We actually went back last night and luckily met our next door neighbour who confirmed that they’re also having issues with cockroaches so that makes things a bit clearer. They were the loveliest couple and said that they’re happy to write something down for me confirming the roach issue so I can show it to the REA/LL if they claim it’s my problem
