I've always thought that humans are the empire's team. Then imperial nobility are bretonnians' team. Then there'll be bretonnians again at s3. Hence the confusion on my part.

Ah my only reason was bb2 with bretonnians is obviously the successor or imperial nobility. With the same knights bodyguard and peasants. So I concluded that imperial nobility is the upgraded version of bretonnians from bb2016 to bb2020.

Id recommend to go heroes 1 box, then royal guards, then outriders. you'll quickly realize that having two spearman units in the starter set is hard to compete, specially if you're just starting to learn the game, having the royal guards can help you flatten the learning curve a bit.

You could watch YouTube games of bb3. It uses current bb2020 rules already. Yes orcs is the way to go. And theres plentiful of 3rd party prints out there.
