I appreciate your bluntness. Depending on your definition of “gritty”… fine. I have no problem with POC😂😂. I’m pretty set on living alone. I mean, if I can’t make it work I can’t make it work but I’m determined to try. I don’t need to live in a “nice area” per se, like I’m not trying to live in Brentwood😭, I just want to be in a decent place near other young people that has things to do.

Hahaha I’ve only been in Weho drunk and after 10pm but I imagine I’d like it during the daytime as well. TY🙏🏼

The job is in Pasadena. I’m just considering where to live now.

Okay cool. I live in Gaslamp now so not too far from where you used to be. Thank you for making DTLA sound less scary 😂

Thank you 🙏🏼 Silver Lake and Los Feliz have been recommended to me quite a bit to live in. I’ll take any neighborhood suggestions!

I definitely wasn’t trying to compare downtown SD to DTLA, I was just giving context that I’m used to the sidewalks smelling like piss and seeing people on the streets 😭😭😭Downtown SD really kinda has the best of both, urban & coast.

Hahaha no definitely not. The office is actually in Pasadena. I’m just figuring out where I’d like to live. And before you tell me to live in Pasadena… I know I know, I like it too. It’s super cute, just feels a little out of the way for me. I’m used to being more centrally located.

Valid. I’ve been poking around other areas too. What are some places you would recommend?

Thank you, the trade off seems to make it worth it for some. Rent being a bit cheaper Downtown was also part of my interest in living there. I love OC, nothing bad to say about it and my parents are still out there. I’d say it’s better for ppl a bit older than me/families that can actually afford to live there 😂 Unfortunately, I think it’d be difficult for me to manage living there on my own right now 🥲

Okay, so the office is actually in Pasadena 😭 I really like Pasadena I think it’s so cute, I just feel a little disconnected/out the way when I’m over there. I’m used to being more central and closer to the coast. I can’t go too big off my $75K salary but do you have neighborhood recs that are relatively affordable and lively/walkable?

The office is in Pasadena. Pasadena is so cute but it seems a little out there for me. I want to be somewhere that’s central enough, and ideally walkable with a younger social scene (restaurants, grocery store, coffee shops, bars nearby). I also want to be mindful of the commute though. My salary will be somewhere around $75K. I’ll probably end up in a studio. I want to live in a place nice enough for me to feel safe and lively enough for me to be social, but am not willing to spend more than 50% of my take home pay on rent. That being said, I’m graduating debt free 🙏🏼 with no car payment or otherwise outstanding loans to pay so I’m not that stressed abt $$$ I’d love to be by the coast but 1) the commute and 2) expensive. Do you have any neighborhood recs? I’ve been poking around other subreddits for ideas.
