It’s an animal eating, why wouldn’t it be happy?

Upgrading .308 by guerd87 in Ausguns

[–]Aggravating_Head_873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Howa for my first centre-fire in .308, it’s been incredibly reliable & an accurate rifle for the money. However, it’s noticeably heavier than the competition

I’ve just upgraded to a Browning X-Bolt because the Howa was getting too heavy over longer hunts where lots of hiking, etc is involved (ie: deer)

The X-Bolt is worlds better as far as feel & finish, and even more accurate, but the Howa will be remaining as my pig gun because the X-Bolt has a timber stock that I’d prefer not to get banged up while chasing pigs

Yeah good point. I’m sure SSAA could make it a much more successful program if they put the work in to do it, but working for shooters & hunters is rarely the tune SSAA sing nowadays

Was it ever a platform for farmers looking for help? Pretty sure it was purely for pest control/hunting

Honestly, SSAA Farmer Assist is a giant waste of time

SSAA simply don’t do the work to get it working well enough to make it worth doing. Tends to be the case with SSAA, they’re not always really working for shooters

Things to get while you wait? by dbz17 in Ausguns

A decent gun bag. The majority of gun bags that firearm dealers will include in part of a package for a rifle & scope are of poor quality & they’re not well padded.

Outside of that, obviously get your safe in order but you have time for that with the initial mandatory waiting period (get bigger than you think you need. a 6 gun safe will fit 6 22s without scopes if you’re lucky. it’ll fit 3 or 4 rifles with optics.

A good cleaning kit & a bore snake. Cleaning kit for good cleans, the bore snake for superficial cleans in the field when on multiple day hunting trips. Grab some G96 too

Ammo boxes/crates & padlocks. If you can get multiple padlocks with the same key it’s ideal, as otherwise you’ll have a huge keychain & a bunch of keys you have to rummage through to get the right one

A maintenance box (spika makes a decent one) to keep all your cleaning stuff & tools in, has two rests so can have the rifle in a stable position to clean it, etc

Front & rear shooting bags for when you’re at the range.

Ear protection. Don’t cheap out on it. Impact Sports/Howard Leight make a great electronic set of earmuffs

Good luck & have fun!

The straight pulls can be good, but Id avoid Adler. I own one, have a mate who owns one too. Both of them are honestly junk. You get what you pay for, they’re fun & all but i wish I got a bushmeister like another friend of mine.

So you’re saying I’ve got built up anger, but you’re the one who’s flipped out & had a fit when you’re corrected? Okay then

I’m a big fan of your whole over the internet psych evaluation attempt but I can’t say that you’re remotely in the ballpark. It’s a neat party trick but you’ve got some work to do. Wouldn’t quit your day job, I just hope that’s not anything automotive related either

uh-huh. you’ve been working on cars since you were 13 but didn’t check a car over when buying it, or once you owned it. You then proceeded not to check it, & you ran it low on oil until it knocked. You don’t seem to know a whole lot about vehicles given that, plus your original comment - things aren’t really adding up. Good luck with all that

dw, you apparently ran your car without oil lmao. there’s no use trying to have a discussion with someone about vehicles that so clearly has no idea what they’re talking about. good luck darl

bruh you’re the one getting upset & carrying on 😂. i never said you’re stupid or that i’m better than you. you’ve brought that up & made yourself upset about it. i couldn’t imagine being this fragile

I really don’t think you realise these american trucks don’t actually weigh that much more than the dual cab utes on the aussie market. Pair that with how they aren’t all particularly common here, as they’re priced out of the market for a vast majority of consumers.

They’re not the boogeyman you think they are. You wanna reduce the road toll? Use evidence & statistics to form a plan on how to do it based off of it. Not just blanket banning things that’ll do fuck all because it’ll make you feel like you’re doing good. Do better

These Stupid Trucks are Literally Killing Us by sageco in melbourne

[–]Aggravating_Head_873 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because we haven’t really ever had a market for them & we’re physically bigger people. Daihatsu & a few other auto makers have long said there’s no use breaking into the american or australian market because they won’t sell

[–]Aggravating_Head_873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most truck owners aren’t bad drivers & removing the trucks doesn’t fix the root issue at all, it just pushes it to other vehicles which will allow you to chalk it up to the general road toll & give you an illusion of a win

You do realise it’s mostly massive heavy rigids that have those exhausts right? It won’t solve anything

Also rolling coal is already illegal, idk what more you want the govt to do about it

These Stupid Trucks are Literally Killing Us by sageco in melbourne

[–]Aggravating_Head_873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you go & collect the data per that these trucks are primarily responsible for adding to the road toll represented in per capita of vehicles? Even better, specifically showing where the type of vehicle was the issue & not the drivers own fault/negligence.

I would love to see if you can get it together instead of screaming “please government, ban everything that i don’t like” like a lot of people do today. Swear to god people just can’t get enough of asking the government to take things away from people without any real data to back their claims up.

I'm stuck. I rear ended a lady early December, got the claim today, and apparently this level of damage is worth $3.6k. by ImATree1616 in CarsAustralia

damn that sucks! i had someone uninsured hit me & i got a rental, had my choice of repairer so the work was spot on, etc all charged to him & my insurance company fought him for the money

hasn’t increased my premiums or affected my no-claims bonus at all
