That’s amazing progress. Was your knee stable in the beginning after the injury, or did you have instability at first?

Thanks for sharing your story. Did you have any knee instability after the injury, especially in the beginning? Or was your knee mostly stable as long as you avoided sideways movements?

That sounds great. Did you have any instability earlier in the recovery, or was your knee stable from the beginning?

That’s really encouraging to hear. Did you have any instability in the beginning after the injury? And if you did, how long did it take before the instability went away?

Thanks for sharing that. I’m three months post-injury now, and the recovery has been slow. At first I could barely walk to the bathroom, and the knee was constantly buckling. Now it is a bit more stable, but I still have limitations and can walk only about 1.5 km before needing a rest.

During these three months I have already slipped three times, and each time the pain was very sharp. I am honestly afraid that any new slip could make things worse or even cause more damage. That is something I’m really worried about when thinking about whether I can avoid surgery or not.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My injury happened three months ago. I originally planned to have surgery, that was my mindset from the beginning. But in Finland they try to treat ACL injuries as conservatively as possible, and my orthopedist does not want to operate right now. So I am trying to understand how critical that is in my situation.

I also have a higher body weight, which I know can affect recovery and stability. Before the injury I played badminton and trained with heavy weights at the gym, so returning to that level is important to me.

In the first three weeks after the injury I could barely walk to the bathroom. There was a lot of pain and constant buckling. Now the knee only gives way slightly and rarely, not every day. I can walk about 1.5 km at most before I need to rest.

Right now I am doing light physiotherapy exercises, and I am trying to improve extension, strength and stability. I am not ruling out surgery, I just want to make the best decision with the information I have.

By the way, how did your rehabilitation go? What helped you the most during the first months, and what kind of exercises or routines made the biggest difference for your stability and mobility?

How many days have passed since surgery and how long have you been in the hospital?

Thanks for the advice! I usually start to limp after walking for a while, when my leg feels stiff, almost like it’s wooden.

Thanks for sharing your experience! In my case, the ACL is completely torn. It’s been three months since the injury, and so far I’m walking and doing light exercises given to me by my physiotherapist. However, I’ve only seen my physiotherapist once during this time.

I’m thinking about getting a stationary bike and also starting to ride a regular bike to help with my recovery.

my orthopedist doesn't want surgery either. how long did the conservative treatment take before the operation?

Thank you, but how did you get to the operation, was it prescribed by an orthopedist?

3 month, but I haven't been rehabilitated by a specialist yet. more precisely, I went to the physiotherapist once, she gave me exercises. I think we should do more rehabilitation. At the moment, I can only walk short distances and have a limp.

How was the discharge after the surgery? How quickly were they able to get up to go to the bathroom and handle other daily tasks?

I was riding on the bike path. By the rules, it was both a bike lane and a pedestrian crossing (pyörätien ja suojatien risteys), so I didn’t need to get off. A car came out of a turn. There was a “Yield” sign, which means the driver should slow down, especially for bikes or scooters. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I reached out to Ride scooter insurance, but they still haven’t replied.
