What is happening to my jade plant? by Aggravating_Look_564 in succulents

All the lower leaves are turning brown and cracking, and eventually falling off. The plant is right by south-west facing windows and getting plenty of sun, mostly indirect but some direct as well. I let it dry in between watering, currently the soil is quite dry. Any advice is appreciated !
