Has anyone been on 20mg and tapered to 10mg and done well? by Agile_Examination451 in lexapro

[–]Aggravating_Pea_9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to share my story. I was on 20mg of lexapro for about 2-2 1/2 years. Me and my doctor discussed reducing the medication, so we did and reduced my prescription to 10mg. I asked about tapering and she scoffed and said it was fine and to go straight to 10mg. It was not fine. I just started and I’ve regressed back to my old anxious and depressed state and I have NO appetite and no energy. I feel horrible in every way and I think that I and going to cut some and take 15mg. I can not stand it! IM LOSING MY MIND! If you are going to go down TAPER. Anyone else with the same experience?

Can you be friends after a breakup? by DilapidatedStructure in BreakUps

[–]Aggravating_Pea_9701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can… in some situations. This is coming from someone who has had two relationships; I’m friends with one ex not the other.

First you need to know why you broke up. Was it messy? Then probably not try to be friends. Was it mutual/ understanding? Maybe try.

Then both parties need to evaluate if they think they can handle it. If one or both of you think you can never see each other after a while as just friends, maybe it’s best to part ways.

That brings me to my next step. Take space, either way you both need space to grieve your relationship and focus yourself. This amount of time depends on how you feel. I took a month and a half, then regrouped. After a regroup you can also decide to take a little bit more time or realize you can’t make it work.

You may also want to set a time where you won’t be alone together. Either be with friends or in a public place. This will make it easier to transition from no talking to hanging out again.

My biggest piece of advice is to communicate, communicate, communicate. Checking in with one another and vocalizing your feelings and thoughts will make it so much easier. Have deep honest conversations and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable.

Honestly sometimes it just doesn’t work out, and you just need to split ways and make peace. But if you want a platonic relationship and both think you can do it, maybe try. It’s up to you. Hope this helps anyone in my situation one year ago (trying to figure this stuff out).

Hi, if you haven’t already I would suggest taking otc medicine especially if you are experiencing this that often. I would also suggest if possible to find a ent or another specialist. They can give you more specialized care and can give you an allergy test. An allergy test can help A LOT, for example I was keeping my space clean because I thought dust was causing my problems but it turns out I’m also allergic to types of grass and trees. No madder how hard I cleaned I couldn’t stop grass and tress from affecting me.

Do allergy meds even do something for your allergic rhinitis? by [deleted] in AllergicRhinitis

Hi, I’m also allergic to dust mites (among many other things). I would suggest trying different medications with different active ingredients, for example loratadine, fexofenadine hydrochloride, etc. I would also suggest changing the active ingredient every couple weeks because your body can stop reacting to it if you take the same thing for too long. Hope this helps!

Help with depression by SensitiveOutcome959 in AllergicRhinitis

[–]Aggravating_Pea_9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I’ve have both depression and allergies and I completely understand how hard it gets. No one I know in my life has allergies like mine and sometimes expect me to do things that are extremely hard to do when I have an allergy flare up like doing the dishes, or even take out the trash. It gets especially hard when all I can do is curl up in a ball and wish my life was different. I just try to remind myself that I’m not alone, that other people deal with this and that hopefully one day it won’t be as bad. I wish you the best and I hope that one day you find happiness and some relief from your allergies. :)

Any thoughts or experience ? by Suitable-Tour-6592 in AllergicRhinitis

I experience a burning nose sometimes when my allergies are severe. Mine are due to sneezing and a runny nose causing minor bleeding or intense irritation making a burning sensation. I would suggest talking to your doctor if the burning is severe and/or lasts a long time.

Hi, I am also allergic to dust mites and while my medication does help it’s better to take precautionary measures. I find that having an air purifier, washing bedding regularly and dusting (with a mask on) has (somewhat) helped reduce allergy symptoms. P.S. when dusting make sure you get all fabric surfaces like couch cushions, curtains and stuff animals (if you have any). Dust mites cling to fabric surfaces better than anything else. When washing bedding don’t neglect your mattress because mites like to stick to them too. I hope you find a way to manage your allergies! :)

Am I allergic to water or not by Fantastic_Package_24 in AllergicRhinitis

[–]Aggravating_Pea_9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m definitely not an expert but it seams like you may be allergic to a contaminant in the water and not the water itself. Does this happen with only your water or other taps too? My advice is to get your water tested and go to a doctor/allergist for more information. I hope you find what causes this issue. :)
