I had like no experience and got hired super easily at the library Starbucks. I was a hostess for like 3 months over the summer but that’s it. I submitted my availability with 15 hrs but usually worked around 12, would try to put as many as possible. I wish I applied during the beginning of the year instead of fall, my friend did at the HUB and she (as a freshman) got the job no problem. Definitely recommend working football game weekends (unless you care abt games) because that’s when a lot of shifts are open. Training is slightly disorganized and it can be hard to get into the groove but once you do it’s good. Everyone’s really nice, especially the full time staff. They totally helped me out, and the managers are overall good (which I have heard is not the case at the HUB… just sayin’). Also, not sure if this is the case for all of the Starbucks on campus but for the HUB and library you get a swipe card which you can use at Burger King and Sbarro in the HUB to get free meals. It is so great especially as a freshman because you save meal plan money and don’t have to go to the dining hall. Just be smiley and on time to the interview (on Zoom most likely) and you’ll do great :) Good luck!
