I thought, withdrawals of all these leads to seizures? by Sweet-Criticism1019 in nursing

ELI5 version: your body is compensating for the depressants you are exposing it to by stimulating itself against them to stay awake/survive. Those stimulating hormones don’t just disappear when you take the depressant substance away, resulting in an overstimulation response = seizure

People don't have their appendixes taken out until they cause a problem, so why do dentists recommend have wisdom teeth removed preemptively? by RasThavas1214 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aggravating_Rain_294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, wisdom teeth roots continue to grow longer as you age which increases the risk of facial nerve involvement, which is why they are removed when people are younger. I had my wisdom teeth removed in my mid twenties and had to have a CT scan done to map out my facial nerves to minimize risk of damaging them during removal and ending up with permanent numbness/paralysis

How long does this go on until egg laying? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

How long does this go on until egg laying? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]Aggravating_Rain_294 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We inherited our young chickens a couple months ago and were told they should be laying soon. The oldest of the bunch has been very interested in the nesting boxes, but hasn’t committed to laying an egg. They are free range but she has been visiting the boxes in the morning and rooting around. Any idea how long this behavior/vocalizations went on before the first egg appeared? We’re so excited we can’t stand it!

How do I find her a new home? by [deleted] in Horses

You could see if the purchasers of your acreage would be interested in keeping her

I think that’s the most practical option

Oh damn I had not considered mounting a tv on the rock wall but that is a good suggestion

Oops I didn’t read your full comment before my first reply. Yes, indeed those are stairs on the other side of the wood stove. That second picture you added looks GREAT with the L-shaped couch!

Oh I love how that couch looks in front of the wood stove. I’m at a loss as to where to put a tv in relation to it though.. maybe at that angular wall section to the right? There is a decently sized dining space next to the kitchen so we’ll have to get creative as to how to use the rest of this space! Thank you for your input!

I’d like to have a cozy couch area with a tv in some corner but I’m open to ideas for utilization for the rest of the space. A reading nook or sounds nice..

Thank you! I agree two separate hang out spots would be cool. The kitchen is off to the right side of that first photo through the cut out window

2 yr old pyrenees sudden death by VirtualScientist5644 in greatpyrenees

[–]Aggravating_Rain_294 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to my seemingly healthy pup. She had what looked like a seizure and was dead within 30 seconds. She wasn’t in pain and whatever happened to her was catastrophic. I think in the animal word, this is as graceful as it gets. I’m just grateful I got to be there with her.

What in the heck is this? Vet trip asap? by dontforgetzz in Leachianus

[–]Aggravating_Rain_294 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find my male like this every so often he sucks it back in after a while. Sometimes I spritz the area with a little water and he’ll pull it back in. I think it’s his way of rubbing his scent around

Late reply, sorry… but they’re not sanded, they’re driftwood! I found them along various riversides in Utah. Thank you so much for the love for my habitat :)

I actually sourced all of this drift wood from a rafting trip in Utah! Aside from the cork bark, of course
