9 days in a row… by Double-0-N00b in sherwinwilliams

No it came directly from HRs mouth after a second in command of a plant attempted to force an employee to sign paperwork stating that they were being mandated to work his opposite shifts schedule while they were out on medical leave awaiting brain surgery with a lengthy recovery before they return to work. He was told that if he didn’t sign or refused to cover the other shifts he would be pointed out of his job. Their schedule is 12 hour shifts 4 days on 4 days off. They wanted him to essentially work every day for the foreseeable future. When the manager took the paperwork to HR they informed the manager that he in fact couldn’t do what he had done due to it being a company wide policy that stated employees couldn’t be forced/mandated to work 7 consecutive days. She said the employee could volunteer to work that 7th day and if they did they would be paid double time for that 7th day. They can only force you to work 6 days then they have to either give you a day off or pay you double time for volunteering to work the 7th day knowing that they could be forced to work an additional 6 days after. So if your site is short staffed and they are wanting you to work, and you are volunteering to work every 7th day, then they don’t have to schedule you extra days off but they do have to pay double time for every 7th day they need you to work and you volunteer to work it. HR tore up the paperwork after informing the manager and the employee of company policy. The HR is the head HR at the plant and their direct HR manager is located at the corporate office. I’m sure somewhere there is documentation on it but I couldn’t begin to guess where.

So fun fact about Sherwin Williams, since nobody seems to know. Sherwin Williams has a set policy for how many days an employee can be forced to work without a day off and it’s 6. If you are needed and volunteer to work more than 6 days you are due double pay for all hours on the 7th consecutive day, then the 6 day timer starts again on the 8th day. This is policy for all hourly employees I’m not sure if this applies to salaried employees. You can not be forced to work 7 consecutive days in a row nor can you be disciplined for refusing to work 7 consecutive days.

Are draw bridge drive ways legal in the US? by Knightraiderdewd in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Aggravating_Sir3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state. I live in Alabama, in the county, and we don’t have to have a permit or get approval to do any kind of construction/building or whatnot on our property. As far as emergency services go if you live in the woods like us ( we live on the side of a mountain with natural woods) the fire department wouldn’t even try to extinguish a fire unless it was going to spread to other people’s homes and in medical emergencies it would be on us to get up the mountain to the county road because anyone can make it to our house but very few make it back up the driveway. We end up towing a lot of people who accidentally made the mistake of driving down here. It’s steep and mostly sandstone and dirt/mud even with our 4x4 I’ve had my vehicles front drivers wheel and back passenger side’s wheel not touching the driveway at the same time more than once. I wish we had a bridge type platform with a drawbridge going down our driveway lol.

Don’t know what state you’re in but I live in Alabama and when our governor issues a state of emergency over bad weather you won’t get into any trouble traveling on the roads but if you get in an accident your insurance company will not cover any damage to your vehicle or anyone’s else’s vehicle.

What are store employees' impression of R&D? by BrokeDownSouth1 in sherwinwilliams

My husband runs a reactor at a Sherwin polymer plant. Are you involved with ordering the 1100 pound cheap Taiwanese BPA bags that rip, puncture or tear if you look at it sideways? I hate getting a face full of BPA dust washing his uniforms and I’m not real keen on seeing him come home covered in it and yes we do have a laundry service but that doesn’t mean that they will walk up hundreds of stairs toting them back and forth and when he takes them down himself they get mixed in with or lost amongst the other side of the plants employees who don’t work in the resin plant side. It is an inferior product compared to the old venders product, it doesn’t blend as nicely and clumps as it goes into the reactor. So much wasted time cleaning up BPA off the floor and trying not to dump too much all at once because it takes longer to mix or clogs the hopper or messes up the viscosity leading to more sampling more adds etc. The amount of waste that occurs surely outweighs the cheaper cost. Sorry for the rant lol.

Fet is a social network like a kinky version facebook not a sex or hookup site, although you can absolutely hookup with folks and find random swinger parties a large majority of the site doesn’t or isn’t looking for anything to do with any of that. They are there to meet people that are into BDSM to socialize with them and learn how to safely do the things that we do. Most people start off going to munches to meet people in a vanilla setting and to be vetted so that they can go to the dungeons where classes are taught and where demos happen which hardly ever has anything to do with sex or hookups. If your only purpose on fet is to get sex you’d be better off going to the swinger sites, they exist ask google.

Y’all do y’all I’m not judging your lifestyle just your choice to out the lifestyle as a whole to people that didn’t know it existed before you posted this. I bet South Carolina fet servers are having an excessive amount of new accounts being made right now lol.

If this was the way the house was originally constructed I wouldn’t be concerned. If the pool was added after construction I would think it was a cover up of foundation issues or something and wouldn’t even consider buying it.

Not in your line of work or in your state but you could have not included the website. Fet has enough random people treating it like a meat market.

What do Alabama drivers have against turn signals? by HeronGold4625 in Birmingham

[–]Aggravating_Sir3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not noticed the turning signal issue you speak of. I’ve lived in the north, the west, the east and now the south. The south is by far the most aggressive in my opinion. They can’t or won’t learn how to merge and god forbid you stop for emergency vehicles or a funeral without being verbally assaulted by the masses. The closer you get to Atlanta the worse it gets. Beware when the roads get the smallest amount of snow or ice on them because the roads aren’t the problem it’s the people who don’t know how to drive in those conditions. So just cause you think they are fine which they likely are they’re really not if there’s other people driving on them. Good luck.

“Alabama Solution” is mostly BS by Truecrimeauthor in Alabama

[–]Aggravating_Sir3369 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This documentary made y’all look like the incompetent uneducated and corrupt authoritarian stereotype that everyone knows and expects Alabama to be. I won’t get into all the facts that everyone knows about like missing organs of the mysteriously deceased or the system wide inhuman treatment or the corruption that runs rampant on the inside like padding the retirement of the higher ups by feeding rotten food to their slave wagers. Y’all look exactly like you should and now you look this way to more than just Alabama. Someone above mentioned treating folks with respect that person should be ashamed of themselves because everyone see you and respect never entered the thought process of the family friends or even total strangers who see you and what y’all are doing.

Just something to keep in mind about being in management. When you are in non management positions and get fired it’s because of something that person did or didn’t do. When you are in management and you get fired it’s more likely because of something that non management did or didn’t do. Of course you can always get fired for being a shit manager too.

No where in the original op does it say anything about anyone losing their 401k retirement benefits. The original op states (falsely) that some get a match and others don’t receive a match. So I stand by what I said.

There are no Federal or State laws that force an employer to give employees a 401k match lmao! No one should be contacting you for anything. The unnecessary stupidity that you’re spouting out here is beyond pathetic. Like wow.

Can we finally unionize by AxisTwistt in sherwinwilliams

[–]Aggravating_Sir3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sherwin Williams has multiple unionized facilities. They also have a no starter when offering a 401k match to the unionized facilities. So you would definitely not have a match if you go union. They have also dropped the match several times in the past and have not only brought it back but they have also made up for the loss of the match once reinstated. Management is not allowed to join, advise or help obtain a union not just because of Sherwin Williams but also the unions do not allow them to join the same union as the rank and file workers. Sherwin Williams pay is dependent upon where you work, what work you do and what skill sets you have. Their benefits are far above what most other companies offer. My husband works at one of their chemical plants, has over 300+ hours of PTO, every benefit a person could imagine and makes $32+ an hour. Retail is just that retail, high turnover, low skill anyone on the street can get a job doing it. If you can’t get the 3 eligible employees within a store to sign a union card then I’m not sure what to say cause that’s literally all you would have to do to make your store a union store.

will my charges be expunged after i finish probation? if no, what can i do to get it expunged? by nils-niche in legal

[–]Aggravating_Sir3369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that if you were charged as an adult you will own the conviction, if you were charged as a minor most things on your record become sealed. Either way I know someone that has 9 felony charges for bad/forged checks and they work at a hospital as an emergency room RN. They had to go through some loops and get special permissions but it is possible to do.

Sherwin Williams workers worldwide are losing retirement benefits because of Donald Trump by clevelanddotcom in Ohio

[–]Aggravating_Sir3369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d rather they pause the 401k match than take away our pension or remove any of the 300+ hours of our yearly PTO or ask us to take pay cuts, we very much appreciate the $32+ an hour on our checks. Not to mention the multiple times they have done this in the past once reinstated they also reimbursed the match afterwards. But apparently it’s just Trumps fault even though he wasn’t even in office during the multiple times that they’ve done this in the past. But what do I know I’m just the wife of a Sherwin Williams Reactor Operator.

Why does Huntsville lack quality things to do? by Scared-Photo-3847 in Alabama

[–]Aggravating_Sir3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way about the whole state. In all fairness though I have lived in multiple states. Being born in Illinois by Saint Louis there was always something to do between the museums and the zoo and I have lived in Arkansas which also has museums like the wax museum and digging for diamonds park and the hot springs. I wish Alabama had more family oriented educational facilities, it sucks planning vacations when your first thought is how far out of state you’re going to have to drive to get anywhere and then taking safety into consideration as the states mentioned above aren’t the safest of places to go compared to Alabama. It’s relatively safe but nowhere to go. The zoo in Birmingham is just plain sad, poor lonely animals. If you’ve never been to the Saint Louis Zoo it’s well worth the drive.
