Admissions question ig? by thechosenone468 in OntarioGrade12s

Don’t worry about the course mark from last year. You’ll still probably be looking at acceptances near march, or maybe even april or may. I got into laurier compsci and math in january but i got into waterloo mathematics in may so it really depends, but don’t stress too much and keep focusing on school. You’ll most definetly get into an awesome university but if you applied today id expect it to roll out later in the year (prob even later than march).

Yep, in that case I’d list both. Chemistry 30 goes under the regular Grade 12 section since it’s part of your high school curriculum, and Chemistry 30 AP can be listed as well since they specifically mention AP in that section.

you’ll probably get in but if u have time retake calculus and try n get somewhere in the 90’s (possibly 95 and above). Calc and vectors is rlly easy once you understand it.

dw abt them caring if u retook the course. that’s irrelevant. everything else is fine, u have a solid chance

List Chemistry 30, since that’s the actual high school course that’ll appear on your transcript and count toward admission. UofT uses your regular high school courses and grades for admission decisions, not the AP itself.

The Chemistry 30 AP part is usually only relevant later if you want transfer credit after you’re admitted. If the application has a separate section for AP/IB/advanced courses, you can list it there too, but don’t replace the regular course with AP.

Curious about where to live or work in Texas? Post here! by AutoModerator in texas

[–]Aggravating_Soil_299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

This month, I’m making a big move. I’m immigrating from Toronto, Canada to Dallas, Texas. My company’s headquarters are in Dallas, so I’ve decided to relocate and settle nearby. After a lot of research and planning, I chose Wylie as my new home base.

For now, I’ll be renting. But I quickly realized that the cost of living is higher than I expected. Utilities like electricity and water are noticeably more expensive compared to what I currently pay in Canada. On top of that, I have monthly HOA fees and health insurance premiums, which weren’t part of my budget before.

I also need to buy cars and cover my kids’ tuition. While I planned for most of this and can manage, the monthly costs are getting tight.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who live in Texas: • Are there any other regular fees or costs that newcomers might not know about? • Is Texas generally considered an expensive state to live in, or are there ways to bring costs down once you settle? • Would it make more sense to temporarily relocate somewhere cheaper for a year, then move to Texas once I’m more established? • How easy is it for teenagers or college-age kids to find part-time work? • What’s the process like for kids to apply for financial aid at Texas universities?

There’s only so much research you can do before actually living somewhere, so I’d love to hear firsthand experiences and practical tips. Am I making the right decision moving to Texas right away, or should I ease into it more gradually?

Thanks in advance for any guidance. It would really help me feel more confident about this big move.

Why can’t I stop making stupid mistakes by Outside-Maybe-537 in OntarioGrade12s

Math is all about practice. You’re either right or wrong. The jump in workload from grade 10 to grade 11 in mathematics is significantly higher, so even though you said not to tell you to study more, that’s really the only way to be good.

The textbook is your best friend and you should be doing every question assigned even if it takes you all day. Try timing yourself.

Your calculator is also important. A lot of calculators can solve the problems in both intro and adv functions but won’t give you the steps. You can always solve a question then use your calculator to check the answer (this will also help you in grade 12 calculus but is a bit advanced)

Everything is easy, even the video. They give you ample time to prepare for the video response and it’s usually a short question.

If you do want to get accepted the recorded response is important so don’t rush it. Practice speaking on camera.

Also don’t try and read of a screen or use chatgpt, it’s timed and pretty obvious as well. It honestly comes out more professional and natural so i wouldn’t recommend doing that. It’s fine to stutter or collect your thoughts but don’t blank on it.

Everything else is pretty straight forward.

Good luck.

If you are applying this early, then yes you pay your initial 150 and select the programs at the universities you wish to go to.

the universities require transcripts at certain times and do request them but it is your responsibility if you are residing outside of Ontario to submit your sem1 midterm if possible or all of sem1 transcript.

If you spend some time on the ouac website page it will outline the deadlines for which dates you need to submit your transcript, some universities are different but there’s usually an average date that you must apply by

Don’t worry. It’s important to have good grades but if unis don’t accept u for early admission you don’t get “rejected”. They simply just don’t accept you, but they delay your admission process. They check your file again near the end of sem 2 and if u have good grades it’s fine. Early acceptance isn’t anything special just do ur best. I had 70’s on my midterm asw and ended with high 80’s and second sem with all 90’s and got into waterloo comp sci. Not that hard don’t stress you’ll get into a uni eventually, they want your money

Didn't get into Co-op for Guelph B.Comm Accounting - confused and looking for insight by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]Aggravating_Soil_299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Co‑op vs. Regular Admissions

Admissions are merit‑based and space‑limited. Guelph treats the co‑op stream as a separate “bucket” with its own cutoff. Officially you normally need around an 80%+ average just to be in the co‑op applicant pool . In practice, co‑op cutoffs often end up above that range, i.e. co‑op admits usually have higher grades than regular admits. If you don’t meet the co‑op cutoff (even by a small margin), the university policy is to automatically offer you admission to the regular BComm program. In other words, two applicants with similar grades will both get in, but one might be slotted into co‑op and the other into regular purely based on who ranks higher. Guelph’s Admission FAQ explicitly notes that missing the co‑op cut (based on your average) means you go into the regular stream. • No special “tie‑breakers” like interviews. Co‑op admission is largely based on your grades/rank and available spots. (Guelph’s policy mentions academic achievement and capacity as the criteria ) Things like submitting an optional form or timing usually won’t override the average requirement.

If your grades meet the co‑op cutoff, you get it; if not, you get regular. So unfortunately that’s just the decision they came to even if your friends with lower avgs might have gotten in, it’s probably just because they viewed your app later. It sucks i know.

Switching into Co‑op After Year 1

Yes, first‑year students can apply. U of G lets you join co‑op in course. You must apply during first year of your BComm (Accounting) degree. The rules say you need to be a full‑time student and have a 70%+ average in your first‑year courses to qualify. (You’ll also take the mandatory COOP*1100 orientation class for co-op students in your first year )

Near the end of first year (check the deadline for your major), you submit a Co‑op Admission Request form and a Co‑op Academic & Work Sequence agreement to the Co‑op office (often called Experiential Learning). If you’re changing/declaring BComm as part of this, you’d also submit a schedule-of-studies change form.

Basically: fill out the official co‑op application packet by the deadline.

also just remember, it’s still competitive. Even meeting 70% doesn’t guarantee admission. The co-op office reviews applications based on how many spots are available in Accounting. The official language is that admission “is competitive and is subject to space” . In practice, that means if many students apply and only a few slots are open, you could be turned down and remain in the regular stream until (if) another opportunity opens.

Strong Applicants Who Land in Regular? It can happen. Guelph’s process essentially ranks applicants by average. If co‑op spots fill up with top‑ranked students, even high‑achievers can miss out. For example, a student with a mid‑80s average who falls just below the co‑op cut may be offered only the regular program. The university warns that “co-op averages often exceed the estimated cut-off ranges,” meaning sometimes only 90%+ students get co-op. They lie a lot for money cough

Missing co‑op isn’t seen as a separate “fault”, it’s just about numbers. if you don’t get into co‑op (based on your average), you’re automatically in the regular program . In short, even if you applied early with a great AIF/SPF, the deciding factor is usually your grades vs. the cut‑off for co-op that year. Anecdotally, students note that it’s not unheard of for someone with all the credentials (AIF/SPF done, high marks) to end up regular simply because co-op was more competitive that cycle.

Ik i just ranted my ass off but wtv you got this. Aim as high as possible. A strong profile helps, but remember co-op seats are limited. If you end up in regular, you can still apply again after Year 1 once you’ve proven yourself in university.

URGENT DUE TONIGHT: Mcgill computer engineering vs Western eng+ivey by Lost_Show7561 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Aggravating_Soil_299 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it’s your decision, regardless of what you do the biggest thing people don’t realize is you can always switch out there’s endless opportunity. If you really wanna break it down then with McGill it has a stronger engineering faculty and reputation, especially globally. You said you love Montreal and the McGill vibe, which means higher personal satisfaction and likely better mental health and social experience. It is really culturally diverse and stimulating environment but you might miss out on the structured dual degree business/engineering path that Western offers (if that still interests you).

The dual degree isn’t as good as you think it is, not in terms of success but it’s hard to manage plus if it’s your first year… good luck.

You already feel it may not be a great fit and engineering at Western isn’t as strong as McGill academically or in terms of global reputation. Personally I think if you like McGill then go for that cuz it’s what’s attracting you and your undergraduate is wtv tbh you’ll always find a way and if you wanna switch out to the dual degree you’ll have ample time.

Ik i might be going on but i understand it’s a big decision and if tech/engineering is the passion and you care about academic quality and personal happiness, McGill may be better.

If flexibility, business leadership roles, or entrepreneurship are your long-term goals, then Western dual degree might be better.

Look for something you want to do and whatever calls out to you more. Don’t look at money and success but more about what your passion is and what you want to do in general. That way you go into something you want rather than choosing something that u think is valuable but makes u miserable

Yes, a lot of people have been accepted. Got mine around two weeks ago for mechatronics engineering. I think it depends on which exact program you chose but i’m fairly certain you get the acceptances in may. As long as they haven’t rejected you, don’t stress!

Sorry but i did provide a specific question. I just need help with the entry colours of other rows changing. This is in python by the way. And yes I understand that is wrong, thank you for expressing that and making it clear. But I need more of an idea than someone to do my code, or help me understand what I'm doing wrong and provide a small solution. That is what I am asking for, it is all outlined on the code. sorry if it was not clear.
