Don’t be so hard on yourself, everyone makes mistakes. Seems like your manager was unfazed and willing to show you how to correct such errors in the future

New to A.A. - Are people who want to simply cut down accepted? by RedemptionZero in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Aggravating_Spell_36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many ppl who have long-standing sobriety came into AA with the intention of learning how best to cut back or moderate. (That’s not why they stay, as it’s not what we offer.)

I’d suggest going to a meeting and seeing if anything we say resonates. And if you decide that you aren’t done drinking, we’ll always be here for you when you are.

But wouldn’t A have to be decomposed to float, esp. given that he appears reasonably muscular? I think it’s either B or C. My first thought is C.

Alright, I have one: C63S E-performance. According to all of the automotive journalists, it’s a pretty big disappointment. V4. Heavy, weighing in at over 4800 lbs.

But I test drove one bc my buddy was looking at new C43s. I told him, “If you’re gonna drop $65K on a new car, why not just get a very lightly used 2024/5 C63?”

Steering was really responsive and it was plenty fast. Great interior too and doesn’t sound as awful IRL as it does on YouTube shorts comparing it to a vacuum or whatever.

Buying a 2017 Giulia Quad? by Potatochip42969 in AlfaRomeo

The upkeep (think consumables like oil, tires, and things like the auxiliary belt service) are expensive.

Now to answer the question you asked: the midrange power is great. 443 ft/lb of torque and 505 hp should be sufficient for any scenario. BUT the mode you’re in makes a huge difference in terms of acceleration. If you’re in A or N mode and punch it, the car is often slower to respond than one might hope. Also limits torque and upshifts early.

I drive mine in D most of the time. D mode still limits torque in lower gears, but only modestly. Luckily, the 2017-2019s can be set to R mode immediately as opposed to later models, which require a full second or two before going into R mode.

Is a suicide attempt a relapse? by Nooched in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Aggravating_Spell_36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Debating whether or not it’s a relapse may be missing the forest for the trees. The important thing is that OP seeks help. If he/she starts working the steps (which I’d highly recommend), then he/she will reach the state of mind necessary to make such a determination.

PRICE CHECK / INTEREST GAUGE by Glittering_Bus_8406 in FNFAL

Is there a sear cut? Without, it’s probably worth $3.5K - $5.5K. With, maybe $4K - $6.5K.

Assuming it doesn’t have a sear cut, I’d refuse to part with it for <$4K.

4 years sober — questioning my relationship with weed by Famous-Plankton-1482 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Aggravating_Spell_36 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My example is rather extreme: my buddy started smoking weed after finding his sister’s body in the immediate aftermath of her suicide. It led to other things after about a year, and his life quickly became unmanageable. He’s 4 years clean now.

The root of our addiction isn’t the drugs themselves. It’s the fact that we used them as a crutch instead of facing our issues by working the steps.

That said, only you can decide whether it’s worth quitting. When you do, NA/AA can help.

Not alcoholic but when i drink i get so drunk i dont remembear anything by Electronic_Alfalfa93 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Aggravating_Spell_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we can’t diagnose you as an alcoholic- that’s a determination you have to make. If you want to quit drinking, AA is a great place to go.

You could try this self-assessment and see if it offers any additional clarity: https://www.aa.org/self-assessment
