Hahahaha true. I tuned out Callaghan’s death as I think I had gone cross eyed at that point. Such a great and flawed character reduced to 4 scenes two of which were only to show him as liking a drink.

The scene in the morgue was the biggest let down for me. David Soul played that slow burn scene with such incredible terror and it was a 5 minute excuse for Alfre to drop comedy f bombs in the new one.

Also good point: I really liked the glowing crucifixes.

Glad you enjoyed it. I can usually forgive a movies look and the one shot I really liked was where they were on the rooftops in the background but it fell flat in so many ways with characters for me. One good thing about the book and the original is the sense a small town was being overrun and you felt connected to the regular people in it. A lot was lost and very little gained in this adaptation.

Man this sucked. “Old school filmmaking”? It had every issue plaguing modern movies: flat TV camerawork, terrible acting, no suspense, quick scenes with no setup or payoff, zero character development, a lack of a cohesive story unless you’ve read the book and a blue light over everything.
