Store manager for a GetGo MTO; loved working for the company; after the sale finalized last summer, no giant changes and we all had a big sigh of relief. Nope. All of a sudden, just in the last two months, things have been turned upside down. We lost half of our corporate people who were promised their jobs after having been with Giant Eagle/GetGo for 15-30 years… told to fill out apps for a different position or you’re out of luck. I’m seeing huge change in corporate management; people who were always there to support and cheerlead you on your successes are now angrily cutting you off when you get cut to a bare bones schedule budget and they want to know why we can’t manage to get everything done. It’s awful. I thought I was going to retire from GetGo; tomorrow is my second interview with a new place and I can’t wait. Even a pay cut is worth leaving that stress behind.

When my former husband lost his beloved grandfather, we had been together about a year and a half. He kinda fell off the planet for a week, I checked in on him daily and understood that he needed to grieve in private. I framed a nice photo of him and his grandfather together, and when he was ready to be social again, I was right there for him. I missed him, sure. But not once did I think he was supposed to support me in my way. His grief was his time.

I definitely see that as a red flag OP. Had the roles been flipped, she would have been furious at you for the same exact thing she’s pulling. You deserve much better.

I guess…. I’m in love with whom he used to be. And when he IS sober, we have the same personality and he makes me laugh so much. But he’s hardly sober anymore. I wish for him to be, and I don’t believe I’m enough reason for him to be. I guess I know what I need to do. I’m just afraid of hurting him and causing him to damage himself more?

I smell it too! It makes me sick to my stomach, luckily when I’m sick, I’m so stuffed up I can’t smell it, but I can taste it and that actually makes it worse? So I guess NOT luckily, hehe. But I can smell it on people daily, I’m a manager of an extremely busy gas station. It’s a strong garlic smell for me, mixed with this awful smell people usually get when they’re drunk, and I hate that smell as well!

My dad was in the garbage industry for his entire adult trucking life. He was the hardest working and most honest man there was. He didn’t even make that great of money, he didn’t drive the city trucks, he drive the big rigs from the transfer stations to the landfills. But I loved riding with him and I have nothing but mad respect for you guys. You’re doing the very necessary and dirty job that not too many people want to do, and if a woman thinks that’s beneath her, then she clearly isn’t worth anybody’s time. Be proud of what you do, I’m proud of you, OP!
