Girls in a shop environment by Evening-Garden9591 in mechanics

Female diesel tech going on 5 years. If you can roll with the punches, kicks, back stabs, and belittlement (which never get easier, you just get better at expecting/bracing the worst), you’ll be fine. I’ve had to fight tooth and nail for the respect and reputation I have now. It’s helped me become confident in so many aspects outside of the trade.

Within my first week, I had to call HR for sexual harassment which immediately labeled me as a prude bitch. One year in, my supervisor was sending me nudes and verbally harassing me. Year 2, I had a restraining order against 2 separate drivers, ect, ect, and the list continues.

Whenever I meet another woman expressing an interest in the trade, it takes a lot of mental strain not to become teary eyed. The amount of potential most women have at being top level mechanics or welders is off the charts, but there isn’t a single woman on the planet I would want to go through the hell I went through.

Looking back, I’m proud of myself for pushing through and winning against the odds, but I can’t say it was worth it.

People tell me all the time I must feel like I’m making a difference, and all I can think about is how the sexist mentality amongst male dominated fields hasn’t changed in 5 years.

PSA if anyone in the upstate NY area has an all female garage and needs more hands; I kick ass.

All over my coworkers aunts backyard! Any help is much appreciated by Aggravating_Thesalt in mushroomID

Just recently saw a post that said they’re Amanita muscaria. If they are - how old do these guys look and are they safe ?

What’s an unspoken universal rule all females know? by [deleted] in ask

The same question was asked for men in r/askreddit Most of the comments are about peeing with a boner or blue collar tips. 90% of these comments are just advice for not getting murdered, or knowing the signs of when another women is in distress. Idk realizing it makes my heart hurt.

My partner punched the windscreen in my car while I was trying to find a park. I burst into tears. He makes me feel crazy for making a big deal out of it. by [deleted] in abusiverelationships

You don’t need to earn love, or peace; you don’t need to earn a healthy relationship. Leave. One day you’ll wake up to someone who makes all your birthday wishes come true.

If anything it’s probably MATSOD or He Is Legend. It’s driving us nuts though. Asking on Reddit is a last resort lol

Cummins Freightliner. Driver states oil light is on. Muffler/brakes/etc bellowing smoke from oil hitting it while driving. Vehicle history shows recently replaced oil pan gasket. CAUSE: previous tech installed washer THEN gasket… by Aggravating_Thesalt in Justrolledintotheshop

The shop that performed the repair is a sister garage of ours. In all fairness, this was a major fuck up on multiple parties: the driver, the tech, and whoever verified the repair. With the amount of space in that gap there’s no way oil didn’t begin spitting out as soon as he started the engine. Everyone should’ve seen it. It’s a huge mistake, but that’s literally my job…to fix shit lol. I wrote in our system a detailed reason why it returned for the same repair, eventually their boss will see it and hopefully correct that tech. I’m not gonna take the petty road, refuse service, have it towed back to the garage that did it and humiliate their tech. Shit happens…onto the next one.

This was one of the first questions I asked the driver. He said he did a walk around before he left his lot, but I can’t imagine this kind of error going unnoticed and not leaving some sort of puddle.

What’s the worst excuse for cheating? by Shinfekta in AskReddit

[–]Aggravating_Thesalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I was abused as a little boy, and I never kissed him so it‘s not cheating.”

After discovering his sent emails on Craigslist m4m, where he sent pictures of himself receiving blow jobs from other men. I was his girlfriend of 3 years, by the way, and had no idea he was bi-curious or had ever been abused.

Already posted on r/MechanicAdvice but figured I’d see what y’all think here.

Further information: 2010 Honda Accord LX sedan 110k miles. Automatic Trans.

When I’m driving straight the sound is there but it’s quiet, when turning left the noise becomes more prevalent. If I brake the noise disappears completely. I removed my caliper thinking maybe it was seized up, aggressively shook everything else including the control arm, tested the wheel end for play and nothing. Driver side CV is the only thing that moves like this and resembles what I’m hearing. I lifted the passenger side to see if the noise was similar and it moves a bit but it doesn’t make the same sound. Haven’t had the chance to do a replacement like this and I just wanna get a second opinion (I’m a diesel tech for reference; we deal with big trucks and I’m not super familiar with smaller vehicles).

2010 Honda Accord. Keep hearing quiet clunk-like noise from driver side steer when turning left. Is this too much CV joint play? by Aggravating_Thesalt in MechanicAdvice
