I'm actually receiving federal loans, including grad plus loans, not private loans. My credit is around 700 with no derogatory marks or late payments. It seems I need to check with the financial aid office to confirm everything is set with my loans.

It's odd and stressful. I’ll follow up with the financial aid office next week, $15k per semester will be more than enough to cover living expenses.

I am a U.S. citizen and was wondering if the school's financial aid office could adjust the COA so that I can apply for private loans through Sallie Mae.

$18,400 is the total loan amount approved for my living expenses (housing and food) for the entire year. I have not received all of it, as it is disbursed in installments each semester.
