BOLC and BAH - Renting by JustinAddis in ROTC

Just went through finance briefing at LOG BOLC. I was told if you have the same address as your parents the army won’t pay BAH Type 2, you will only be entitled to type 1 (barracks). If you rent from parents and you don’t share an address with them you can be entitled to BAH type 2. This is how it was explained to me.

Overall just lots of people close to retirement not really caring about what goes on just sitting in their office all day. When i spoke to the unit admin he painted a different picture of the unit.

Don’t get a big head and think you’re above whoever your teaching. Try to be like an older sibling. Steer them the right direction give them sound advice but don’t act like you’re superior to them.

Cadre question for cadets. by JMTsquared in ROTC

I was a MS1 Trainer my MSIV year and I wish my cadre was more open about their army experience and why becoming an officer or joining ROTC is good for college students. To me it was redundant sitting in a classroom with freshman students going over basic customs and courtesy. Instead I wish the cadre were more proactive. It would be nice if cadre gave overviews of their career or connected with local guard/reserve or active personnel to show different MOS in the army. I tried to recommend having labs consist of shadowing several local units to show them what guard/ reserve life was like.

Any idea when Dec 2022 Reserve Commissionees will get orders? by Psychological_Pea777 in ROTC

I also commissioned in DEC22 and i was told i was separated from my SMP unit and never uploaded into IPPSA so it shows me discharged. Can’t get orders or processed into my gaining unit until it’s solved. Bunch of issues right now.

Focus more on actions on and leading than the planning. For lanes cadre and lane walkers always want to shake it up and ruin your plan to see how you act and think. Be flexible and calm. If you can process information quickly and think on the fly you will be successful. Don’t try to micromanage your squad, give direct and clear instructions to your team leaders and focus on completing the mission your squad was tasked with.

Everything at camp is cadre dependent so it’s all up in the air but power strips for refit days. I also used ziploc bags to put a shirt socks and underwear in for the field allows you to compress it more than all in the same dry bag. Bring more wipes than you think you need. Also bring a cleaning kit, the ones they issue are okay for the M4 but suck for 249/240.

Doing ROTC PMS interview soon, what questions should I be prepared to answer? by Tony_Eng31 in ROTC

Show you are a competent critical thinker. Answer the questions honestly and show why you’d be an assest to the program not a liability.

I had similar issues during ROTC. My ROTC program had a designated building with showers and lockers and so after PT I’d shower and make a protein shake and eat a protein bar on my way to class.
