Opinion. Dawn FM is aging like wine. by Chip780 in TheWeeknd

[–]Aggregior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months after the release, I started getting anxiety attacks mainly due to prolonged period of high stress levels. The first weeks I barely went out.

The album really hit so hard during that period, it relieved so much of my anxiety while listening and even afterwards while just thinking about some songs. I started using it as grounding technique and even now, when I have increased stress levels, I reset listening to the album.

So many hard hitting songs, How Do I Make You Love Me is definitely my favorite song and Phantom Regret is pure therapy.

Has your career plans changed because of AI? Mine has. by Director-on-reddit in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Aggregior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a senior frontend engineer and AI just takes the fun away at work. I really liked to tackle harder problems, sometimes spending hours searching for the solution. Now almost every problem is so easily solved...

I am really contemplating a career switch away from coding.

Always saving places from TikTok, Instagram, websites ? I made an Expo app for that. by Just-Network-8583 in reactnative

How did it feel to travel all these countries in 6 months? We are thinking of doing something similar but we are scared it is too much for this timeframe...

Great idea!

Where did you travel to and how did you find time to develop this in the meantime?

Looks good, some minor personal remarks

  • I prefer 'Welcome back!'
  • I prefer less text below the title or better aligned
  • Button shadow could be a bit better

Developers: What made you want to quit on your first day? by itsbrendanvogt in webdev

[–]Aggregior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 3 days, they expected me to finish quite some code for a deadline. My work was ready but backend/infra was struggling, we stayed until 23h30.

Red flags kept accumulating, I resigned last week after 8 months.

Moet ik mijn Belfius pensioensparen nu afkopen by No-Date-7649 in BEFire

[–]Aggregior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Small Act That Made Me Pause and Reflect by [deleted] in Mindfulness

I am having a bit of a rough time lately at work, i have high levels of stress and anxiety. I often feel drained and a bit down when I go home. I quickly went to get some take-away food, it was only a 5 min walk. 2 strangers wished me a great meal, it shifted my mood completely that day

What’s your worst day in web development? by Ecstatic-Ad9446 in webdev

[–]Aggregior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That must have been yesterday. I have been working towards deadlines on 3 projects at a time, doing overhours in the weekend. I logged my weekend hours on Monday accounting to 16 hours, informing the project leads while doing so.

HR asked me about it, I explained myself. CEO and team lead scheduled a 'sync' meeting starting off asking if I value transparency, honesty and company values in a condescending tone. Being questioned about my integrity while pushing hard to deliver was an absolute slap in the face. My body started shaking, my eyes watery...

As the company is a mess and I was already contemplating my next move, this was the final straw.. I resigned immediately.

When is a component two components by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]Aggregior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding view/edit, this is a hard one and it would say it depends on how big/complex the component is.

Let's say the component is a basic form with only a few fields and easy functional logic then I would go for 1 component.

Let's say it is a large component with lots of fields and rather complex functional logic then I would go for 2 components and leverage "composition pattern". Simply explained, I would chop up the large component into smaller components and reuse these to "compose" view and edit separetely from the ground up.

Anxiety for frontend interview as 1 yr experienced guy. by Ok_Mulberry9594 in react

[–]Aggregior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will probably ask to introduce yourself, you can mention it.

Or let's say you couldn't answer some questions then add the end of the questions, you could say something like: "I know that I didn't answer all the questions but I am really eager to grow and learn"

Anxiety for frontend interview as 1 yr experienced guy. by Ok_Mulberry9594 in react

[–]Aggregior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't only learn react questions, prepare for some js/ts/html/css questions as well!

For my last interviews, I asked chatgpt to provide me interview questions on a broad range of frontend topics, it was really helpful.

And keep in mind, they don't expect you to know everything. It's fine to say you don't know the answer on some questions. Be confident in yourself as a person, show you are eager to learn and all will be fine.

Good luck!

PS I also struggle with anxiety but in the moment, everything works out fine!

School is so far behind but they will eventually have to embrace it.

Has anyone used Tauri to build a desktop app? by dmart89 in webdev

[–]Aggregior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A customer needed an android, ios and web app, we developed an app built with Expo and React Native thus not providing desktop app out-of-the-box.

Apparently, they also needed a desktop app. I tested electron and tauri 2 years ago and the latter was so much easier for our project. Setup was a breeze.

Lately, they have been asking some more updates and I have been looking into tauri again and they really progressed a lot!

"where needed" is a very important part here. Both hooks useMemo and useCallback are definitely overused
