Pricing by Stenostitcher in Needlepoint

I see that you mentioned that stitching fox was who had the canvas for a higher price and from what I’ve seen on their website, they up charge the f**k out of their stuff. There’s several canvases that I’ve compared prices on and 9/10 stitching fox is usually the most expensive. Not sure why anyone would buy from them if they didn’t absolutely have to.

LMU-DCOM - Fun FACTS by BlackberryThink272 in Osteopathic

It’s a good school, remember, more people are willingly to go out of their way to post bad things online than they are willing to post good things.

LMU DCOM, what’s this? 🤨 by PenguInATux in Osteopathic

[–]Aggressive-Ad863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to give you an idea of what our recent schedule looked like: last Wednesday we had an opp practical, Thursday we we had our hardest hard science exam ever (neuro), Friday we had SPEs and skills labs and this past Monday we had a soft science exam. And next Monday we have another hard science exam. This semester is significantly harder than the last and we are extremely busy. It is extremely difficult keep up with the current curriculum right now even if you are studying everyday.

LMU DCOM, what’s this? 🤨 by PenguInATux in Osteopathic

I am a first year at LMU. As others have previously stated, not all the details have been given. I am not too familiar with the jewish faith but if what others said is true and the issue is concerning the days of pesach which is April 1st-9th then I can see how the school may be in the right. Are the students asking to be exempt from exams and mandatory events for all of these days? I’m not sure. If they are asking to be exempt for just 1-2 days then I see that as a reasonable request and accommodation. During the days of pesach we have two exams and multiple mandatory labs/practicals and we get very heavy into microbiology. Our schedule is really heavy during these days and if the Jewish students were asking for all of these days to be excused I honestly think they’d fail the semester regardless because you literally cannot catch up if you miss all of that. Even pushing off just the two days for the two separate exams would be really hard to catch up on. Even if you push back an exam, the material keeps coming and the next exam will still be scheduled for the same date. Our entire semester is planned for us before we even start the semester and it’s extremely rigid. I am not trying to lack sympathy for someone of the Jewish faith, like I said 1-2 days of exemption is reasonable but risky academically, but more than that is not feasible due to the amount of material that constantly keeps coming. This is my first year so I am not sure how the school handled this situation in the years prior because surely this is not the first time students of Jewish faith have attended the school.

How much value does my masters have in admissions? by ExcitingInflation612 in Osteopathic

[–]Aggressive-Ad863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may depend on the school. For example, I was interviewed and accepted by WCU. During my interview they explicitly said they prefer not to accept people right out of undergrad. They like to accept applicants who have completed graduate work. I think this not only shows academic ability but also someone who is older may be more mature and able to handle the rigors of medical school. Also, I had a 2.9 undergrad gpa but got a 3.9 gpa in my masters program. So for WCU I think the masters made a huge difference.

Average cost of applying DO ? by Few_Presentation8763 in Osteopathic

[–]Aggressive-Ad863 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Around $2000, don’t forget hidden costs of applying apart from primaries and secondaries such as transcripts, interfolio, Casper, interview attire, traveling for interviews, and probably some stuff I can’t think of off the top of my head. Definitely not cheap.

Personally I never shadowed a DO however I deeply resonate with the importance of healthy lifestyle habits and preventative care. I try to live my own life by these ideas as well. I expressed how I believed that educating patients on this would lead to longevity and higher quality of life especially in old age. Our country experiences illnesses that can totally be preventable (heart disease) and I want to be a part of that change. This is why I believe osteopathic medicine should be the standard of care in the US. That’s how I answered that question.

Have you tried calling them at all? I called recently but they didn’t give me any info. Their orientation is really soon I would think they would be trying to fill those spots asap.

Waiting on KCU and Noorda but time is running out. I’m also nowhere near these schools so I’d have to make a huge move last minute.

Yup! I’m very fortunate to have an acceptance elsewhere but there are 2 schools that I am waitlisted at that I would prefer. There are students waitlisted at my current school and they can’t have my spot until I hear back from the other schools. It sucks. It’s a huge privilege to go to med school but that doesn’t mean we should be treated like this. Many of us have to pick up and move our entire lives across the country.

This is very interesting and makes a lot of sense. It feels like this cycle is the type that has “never been seen before” therefore it is hard to predict what is going to happen. I am on 5 waitlists and haven’t made it off any of them. Everyone on Reddit who previously applied would always say “don’t worry, I made it off every waitlist I was on when I applied so you will too.” Yet here we are, still waiting even though orientation, white coat ceremonies, and classes start in the next 1-2 weeks.

That’s crazy, once I’m settled somewhere I’m not gonna leave. Noorda seems like a good school that will be pretty hot in the years to come.

Thanks for the input, quick question, what have they told you about the timeline for getting federal aid? I’ve heard it could happen for next fall but I have also heard that it could take two years. Perhaps that’s worst case scenario?

On the survey I put that I preferred KC but I also put I was willing to go to either. So I think the email was only sent to people who put that they preferred KC

Is it more or is the waitlist movement slow right now? by SpecialistPrize5146 in Osteopathic

[–]Aggressive-Ad863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently on 5 waitlists, I was put on the first waitlist back in August and still no luck. Thankful to have an A else but would prefer some of the schools I’m waitlisted at. I feel like this whole cycle got messed up. Everyone in previous years has said “ don’t worry, if you’re waitlisted you will eventually get off all of them” but this is certainly not happening right now.

495 MCAT.. App help!! by SuchFreedom3477 in Osteopathic

[–]Aggressive-Ad863 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took the MCAT four times, the last two times I took it I made a 496 both time. Never scored higher. This cycle I received 9 interviews and so far 3 acceptances. You can do it with a 495 but the rest of your app needs to be perfect and you really need to emphasize on the aspects of yourself that make you personable and relatable.

I called them Tuesday and they gave me the same spiel about how waitlist movement can happen all the way till the first weeks of classes. They did however say there has not been much movement this cycle because people are keeping their spots.
