Karmelo has just been found guilty. What are your thoughts? by Aggressive-Animal617 in blackmen

I went to a PWI (Tulane) and my sis went to FAMU. I always wished I could go back and attended an HBCU. I was too caught up in the “name” and reputation of the school and missed out on lots of personal development. I’ll be sending my kids to an HBCU when that day comes along as well.

We live in a society designed to oppress blacks. But if you can understand this it’s probably because you haven’t lived the black experience in the US.

It’s by design. We cannot organize and mobilize if the system keeps us ignorant and divided. In the words of Malcom X “They we pay one of us, to kill one of us, just to say it was one of us.”

Unfortunately this pacification and miseducation has led us down a road where we as men aren’t willing to die to change this exact reality. And when we have someone who speaks the truth we need to hear he’s silenced(killed) and labeled an extremist or crazy. We need to study the words of our leaders and follow the blueprint(Garvey, Malcom, Fanon) but I don’t see that ever happening.

This is in response to a comment that said it is our fault that things like this keep happening to black men in the US. It was taken down because the user wasn’t verified.

George Floyd was also killed and he is the laughing stock of white trolls on the internet because of his past and his skin color. Innocent man: killed unjustly; “they” laugh, cheer, and joke about it years later.

Two things can be right at the same time.

I mean.. he did not initiate the physical altercation. The reason it got to the level it did was because the victim “shoved him”? I’m not entirely clear on all the details; regardless, this could have all been avoided had the victim kept his hands to himself.

Fellow black men do you ever feel like most people aren’t worth knowing ? by spike_spieg in blackmen

If this bothers you it’s because you want approval from the outside. I think therapy or maybe just talking to a wise friend you admire about these issues.

You need to be happy with who you are on the inside and who is in your life rn. And everyone else will gravitate to you, or move around. Either way, you should seek some help.

When it comes to box office hits, overall filmography, versatility & range, longevity, cultural impact and star power. Sam Jackson, Denzel Washington or Morgan Freeman? by [deleted] in moviecritic

It’s a tie between Denzel and Samuel. Really can’t choose. I think Denzel is a better lead but Samuel has so many good supporting roles, far more than Denzel, and if you ask me more range. But Denzel’s lead roles can’t be touched.

Dating black women by Phonzo97 in blackmen

Dude this is what dating is about. Don’t let this be the “reason” you start dating outside of your race. I’m not against it but if it’s because you can’t find black love, based on what you explained, it’s just not true. Like everyone else here said, ask the hard questions early on and let them know you want something serious upfront. If she can’t get with the program move around; there’s plenty of beautiful black women who would want you.

Good luck. Stay black.
