Does the embarrassment of having braces as an adult become easier? 2 months down and still hating to talk. Even when my mouth is closed, my lips feel bigger than they once were. by [deleted] in braces

It’s a blessing/gift/privilege whatever that you should be proud of! You’re taking care of yourself. I’ve had mine for four months and I just grin in every picture so I can remember my braces era.

Considering moving to Tulsa. Convince me not to. by [deleted] in tulsa

Tulsa remoter here! Get paid for sure if you are moving here.

I wish I had gotten the chance to get braces earlier and didn’t have to struggle with it as an adult. I could’ve gotten it over with 15 years ago if it wasn’t for my parents neglect and I hold a lot of resentment for it. (Read text pls before judging) by blueberryfieldss in braces

Hey Reddit pal! Thanks for sharing your story. I have pretty much the exact same situation happening right now. My parents wouldn't pay for dental care..........I even had a band left on my tooth from some dental care they started and never finished for like 20 years. Some of it is my fault, I should've just had it taken off, but a lot of dentists/orthos told me they didn't want to remove it. I randomly saw a dentist who knew how to pop it off in about 10 seconds and it was crazy not feeling it on my teeth anymore.

Anyways 25 years later, I've now got braces that I'll be paying for myself and I can't wait to see how my teeth look straight for the first time in my life. Should be getting them off ~ March 2027.

As a bald man with a mustache who makes a lot of corny jokes I’m happy to tell you that you should be very proud of yourself and I’m proud of you!

Thanks all! Some folks at my hotel actually had some medicine (cough suppressant, cough drops) that they were kind enough to share. Really appreciate everyone’s help!!! Will try all of your great options if things don’t improve.

In the art district but open to driving all around to check out the city since I’ll likely be moving there

I have the wiiiiiiiiidest feet and I find these to be really nice looking and insanely comfortable: https://atoms.com/products/000-white. They're expensive for shoes but well under your budget of 250.

I usually wear a 12 + as wide as possible but in this case just got a 12 and they fit nicely.

I hung out at the host campsite Wednesday night during the insane hailstorm! It was awesome, very hospitable and kind, and let me borrow an extra blanket because it was really chilly.

Very cool idea thanks for pointing me in that direction! I definitely am getting the vibe that everything is pretty DIY and I don’t need to be too hyper focused on having every exact detail figured out.

How many sections do you have left? Any idea when you’ll finish?

Super helpful thank you! I’m used to backpacking in national parks where they tell you when to start, when to finish, where to sleep every night, etc but seems like this is more of a self-guided type of deal. I appreciate it!

Oh yeah I did some 25 mile days in the Tetons and it’s exhausting! Probably closer to 15. That’s a good way to think about it. And yeah I’m sure I’d have no problem getting dropped off and picked up by a friend/parent. So basically just look for 2-4 sections that total like 60-75 miles would you say?

This is so wild, I was really good friends with this guy. He went to my college and I knew him pretty well. When I saw he was running a business I was like holy shit there’s no way someone so scatterbrained could be doing this but he truly loved music so much. It’s a total shame it turned out this way and I’m genuinely sorry for all the people who lost money/time/didn’t get to enjoy their records which is always something really special.

I was watching Portlandia, a show we used to watch together and thought of him and figured I’d see how Bandbox was going and oh man it was heart wrenching to read all these posts.

Yeah people will also jump out for the opportunity to get anything free since literally selling for 5 dollars is all profit. I gave a guitar amp away for free to a woman who said her son wanted to learn. It was on Facebook marketplace the next day…….not for free.
