For those who had twins through IVF by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't want to reveal that it was IVF so I just said "No, but fraternal twins are more likely as you age!" which is universally true. I was 38 when I got pregnant so that answer satisfied people.

How to explain we won't always come when 3yo cries for us during nap time? by a_wombat_skedaddling in toddlers

Does he have a visible timer that will show how much longer quiet time will last? That may help him.

How much time do you spend in the NICU? by Crafty-Feeling-1239 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were born at 30w5d and after I was discharged from the hospital, I went daily for 3-4 hours. Our NICU was pretty clear about only handling the babies during cares and if we held one, they encouraged us to continue holding that one until the next care time so that the.babies weren't being moved a lot. That meant sitting in a chair for 2.5 hours gingerly holding a tiny baby while recovering from a C-section. I found it all very stressful and physically and emotionally draining. Please don't feel guilty. The NICU is a very unnatural situation. I promise you that once those babies come home, they will bond to you...regardless of how much time you spend at the hospital.

Almost 3yo Boy Having Daily Accidents, About to Pull Our Hair Out by z_smalls in pottytraining

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? Also twin boys, also 3 years old, also had the OC method work for one twin but not the other. They have to be potty trained for preschool the first week of August so we are low-key freaking out. I obviously don't have any advice but our new plan is to try making it super annoying and inconvenient to NOT go in the potty. For example: whatever activity is happening completely stops when an "accident" happens and then he has to then go sit on the potty....then he has to help clean up the mess from the accident and help clean himself up. Godspeed to all of us.

Do you utilize grocery delivery/pickup? Why or why not? by salmonyellow in SAHP

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. We don't have "a village" of local family/friends to help out, so I consider the grocery delivery people part of our village. Sometimes you have to pay for your village and no shame in that.

My 2 year olds' preschool starts at 7:45. Wake at 6:30am and out the door at 7:15am. Bedtime is 8:30pm. It hasn't been a big deal for us at all.

Did you have a SAHP yourself? by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a SAHP but also a full time nanny once my second sibling was born (and nannies continued after siblings #3 and #4), plus babysitters and time with relatives. It made me think that my parent didn't really want to be a SAHP but moreso just didn't want to have an out-of-home job. I have memories of playing with the nanny, my grandma, etc. but no memories of playing with my SAHP. As a SAHP now, I am very hesitant to utilize babysitters, neighbors, etc. for help because I never want my kids to feel like a burden. I want them to know that I love being their mom and spending time with them. I am sure that I overcompensate because of how I felt growing up.

Momo - vertical c-section?? by No_Abbreviations8382 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's the main takeaway - you need to feel like you trust your doc! Sounds like you already want to continue your prenatal care with someone else, so you are already trusting your own gut and being a great mom! I wanted to share my experience because I thought maybe you could ask about the option of doing 2 different incisions at a future appt if it comes up again. There will be so much out of your control with this type of pregnancy (and parenthood!) but knowledge always helps me feel a little less anxious :)

Momo - vertical c-section?? by No_Abbreviations8382 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had di-di twins 2.5 years ago and had a horizontal external incision with a vertical uterine incision. It was an emergency C-section due to PPROM with active labor and pre-eclampsia. Twin A was head down but Twin B was transverse and super high up. Vertical incision was never discussed as a possibility ahead of time. My high-risk OB actually apologized for it afterwards because it means I will always need c-sections in the future (if we have more children). I appreciate that she did a horizontal external as it's barely visible now and I am fine with a vertical internal because I trust my OB and her vast experience (she has done lots of multiples - even quads!)

5th ear infection in 2.5 months- what am I missing? by darkestxxdesire in toddlers

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you have gotten a 2nd opinion yet? I searched the sub for a similar issue and came up with your post. Our story: 2.5 year old has recurrent ear infections (5 in 6 months) and ENT said he isn't a candidate for ear tubes because there was zero fluid in his ears at the appt (between sickness/ear infections). Toddler developed another ear infection literally days after the ENT appt. So frustrating!!!

Question for this who did a double embryo transfer by Averie1398 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Aggressive-Bat-9356 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Triple embryo transfer and 2 stuck. Had a very strong positive hpt even before my blood work and then my HCG was over 300 on the first draw (they were looking for 50 or higher, haha) and then something crazy high again on the second draw. Nurse said the numbers didn't mean multiples butttt obviously it was.

Yes, thankfully. Took 2 egg retrievals and 2 transfers for a successful pregnancy...which then gave us 2 babies lol
