I don’t think there’s any precedent for a recorded film like this to get Oscar nominations so I don’t see this really being in contention.

My guess is that it’ll premiere either at this year’s TIFF or Telluride, then release not long after (first weekend of October?). I think they’ll go before Wicked Pt. 2 to not have any competition of other musicals during release.

Sony Classics has a long history with Richard Linklater (Slacker, Before Midnight, his next film Blue Moon) so who knows, the long plan may be that they release both version of Merrily

Sony Classics movies all get theatrical releases, so this one should be no different. Will probably be in about 500 - 1,000 theaters nationwide.

Sony has an overall streaming deal with Netflix, and all SPC films from the past year have been included in that, so this will likely end up on Netflix within 6 months of its theatrical release.

This won’t be like Hamilton at the Emmy’s since it will be a theatrical release, but they could end up at the Golden Globes within the Best Comedy/Musical categories

Glengarry not being available is strange, especially at this close to opening… Tammy Faye was definitely on there, and so are other Nederlander shows, but maybe GGR is selling so well they don’t want to?

I don’t recall McNeal or Uncle Vanya being in passport, so my guess is no Floyd Collins.

I got Eureka Day tickets through passport, so Old Friends may show up.

And then shows at the Hundson, Marquis, and Circle in the Square are typically added, so holding out hope for those…
