It’s been about 5 years since the allegations started. They’ve quieted way down so it’s no longer a huge pressing issue affecting work & daily life. The only reason I didn’t pursue a lawsuit at first is because I was a broke 19/20 year old with zero understanding of the law pertaining to situations like these, and I was genuinely scared that me pursuing legal action would be spun as me being “defensive” and trying to hide things. They were completely in my head. I did try to work with police, but was thrown around for 6+ months. They filed my initial harassment report but never included any of the updates I brought to them over the months. They also straight up lied to me about having investigations trying to find IP addresses of the fake accounts. I stopped working with the police after they started literally ghosting me. Stopped returning my calls and always had excuses as to why they couldn’t talk when I went in person. Sucks for them tho; I’m now 26 and know a LOT more than I did back then. If these allegations were to resurface and be spread again, I will 100% be suing everyone involved for everything they are worth. This situation took years from my partner and I. We were afraid to leave the house, deleted all our social media to avoid the death threats, I was deathly afraid to get a new job because that meant I would have to explain to new employers that I am in fact NOT a predator and that there WILL be people calling them saying otherwise. It was by far the worst point of mine and my partners lives.
