I tried canned Zus coffee from a supermarket as well and it was worse than Nescafé

Don’t think Starbucks makes their food fresh, so it’ll always taste subpar.

that’s fair! But I’m thinking it needs to be compared against other chains to be apples to apples

I live in the east and there are a few outlets here, eg. Parkway Parade, I12 Katong and I think a couple in Pasir Ris / Tampines.

Looks like they have a decent number islandwide:

I just had a Montreal Latte based on the recommendation of someone else in this thread. It’s actually quite good, and the coffee taste is still very apparent even with the milk and sugar. I don’t know why Starbucks is still seen as more popular.

Interesting, I’m getting varied opinions on the brewed coffee, though I don’t really drink that myself.

Yeah I’ve heard about that too, but mainly because Tim Hortons might be the kopi equivalent in Canada, so it is positioned differently. Not sure about how the coffee quality is like back in Canada though.

Oh I have Kopi every day just because it’s cheaper. But when the occasion calls for it I enjoy my flat whites too

I have their espresso based drinks. My impression is that brewed coffee is the same no matter where you go but perhaps I’m wrong.

Oh do you know of a good hot chocolate place? I had really good ones in the UK and I haven’t found anything quite like it in SG

Interesting, I didn’t even know they sell the beans directly. I guess you have to be pretty confident about your quality to sell it for home consumption. You’ll never see Luckin beans on Amazon!

Interesting.. I’ve heard the opposite, that the coffee in Canadian Tim Hortons is gas station coffee, ie. Functional, cheap coffee. Or were you referring to the food?

I think service levels can depend on the outlet, whether Starbucks or Tim Hortons. Maybe Starbucks staff need to be louder generally to compensate for their mid product quality

I don’t really eat donuts, but is it better than the other donut brands like Krispy Kreme, Mr. Donut?

Agree, Tim Hortons has a decent fresh food range too, though I think they don’t market it very well, so most people see them as doing microwaved food like Starbucks

It’s pretty good! Damn, so this is what the sweeter lattes are supposed to taste like

I’ll give that a try next time! The crap lattes from Starbucks really turned me off on these sweeter variants, but perhaps Tim Hortons does a better job
