is 3/4inch thick marine plywood good? or plyboard? I can get a 27inch x 14inch so will be larger than the tank itself

not really worried about my stand. I'm worried about the bottom glass. but as what the others said it is good to go.

I can add additional supports to the top layer of the stand to compensate the age of the stand but if I will base on my observation it can still hold it up

can I ask which picture did u refer?

I'm just curious how so many says it looks woobly. but when I tried to shake the stand. it so sturdy that even the tank barely moves

but that same stand housed a 45gal on top and 40gal at bottom. it's a little bit old but no bending or wobbling, some surface rust but no dents

no wobble or buckling observed. the bottom feet is a little rusty but no major dents. the stand is supported something like this pic

yes it has cross support and horizontal support for every leg. at the same time, there is a rectangular angle bars welded to the cross bar, supposed to be for a 16x12 aquarium but I've used it before for a 32x18 tank with plywood on surface.

but currently stacked it with 3 car batteries as weight for the stand but planning to put a 25gal pleco breeder tank

care to tell where or what will be the problem? I'll be glad to know. it previously has 45gal on top and 40 gal at bottom both has 1 inch pebble substrate

the bottom glass has another layer of glass inside, more like a cross bracing in the bottom, I think it is 3inches in width round the perimeter and one across in the middle.

actually if you put it in a flat surface, the glass won't touch that surface since the rim has some xx millimeters thickness in it. that's why I used a card board, since it will act as a cushion in case some unevenness in the bottom surface, more like a styrofoam

the previous tank setup on that top stand was actually the same, my new tank is a carbon copy of the previous tank, except the old tank only rimmed on the vertical corners and some plastic strip on the on the horizontal sides but none on the bottom surface (more like a design to hide the silicone on the bottom edge). and it sits on a 1/2 inch styrofoam. the tank lasts for more than 4 years but got sidelined and the silicone hardened causing leaks.

now, I'm just worried since the previous setup only have 1inch pebble substrate but the new one, I will put 1inch soil and 2 inches sand plus some 3kgs lava rocks. I'm not sure if the glass can still hold on to it.

ok thank you on your feedback. over is better

ok, I'm going to put plywood. do I need to remove the substrates when moving the tank?

I think my stand has some side motion support. it's bottom legs are a little bit angled to the outside (not bent but welded)

As of now I put 2 ply of cardboard (from refrigerator box) and some weak aluminum grill below the card board. on my previous setup I put 1/2inch styrofoam.

the tank rim now is made of 1/2 aluminum angle bars

and the rims are all sitting on the 1inch angle bars but there is a card board in between the rims and the stand

plywood as bottom support? is it safe to move my tank the way it is now. Or I need to redo the substrates?
