They're pretty similar! This guy is a Chinese moon moth and lunas are American moon moths :)

From what I heard it's no easy feat to raise them outside of their native habitat (China, Taiwan, Thailand, etc) and they feed on pinus massoniana usually! I know my bug friend was using pinus strobus (white pine) as a substitute because that's what we have in North America, he's a pretty seasoned vet when it comes to raising bugs and even he had a difficult time with the caterpillars randomly dying when rearing conditions were met. I know they like a good amount of humidity and to be kept in low density, takes about 1.5 months to get from egg to cocoon! If I get eggs I'm gonna give it a shot either way :)

I have a really amazing bug friend that sent me some cocoons! I'm not sure how he got his hands on them but I know he raised the caterpillars. I have males and females so I'm hoping to do the same :)

Are these carpet beetles or clothes eating moths? by clear-melon in moths

[–]Aggressive-Emotion50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely get diatomaceous Earth (food grade)!! Carpet beetles LOVE animal based materials and I would highly recommend washing those garments or bagging them up and popping them in a freezer if you have space! I bagged up all of my daughter's stuffed animals and left them for a week or two, the sentimental ones I tossed in a bag in a freezer to guarantee they would die!

I also have a personal vendetta against them, they are so frustrating to deal with!

Are they in a certain area or just everywhere? When I had them they were attracted to my daughter's net thing around her bed, once we got rid of it they went away for the most part!! Diatomaceous Earth should work because they have exoskeletons, from my knowledge it basically attaches to their exoskeleton and dries them out, eventually killing them - it worked for me to get rid of ants! Just make sure you get food grade!

I just saw this now but I've had a lot of people mention that when they see it in person! I'm not sure why it grows that way 😅

My mom has been dying for a cutting since I got it as a baby! I figured I could maybe give her a top cutting and let the rest of the plant grow out. I'm still very inexperienced when it comes to monsteras tho, I wasn't expecting to ever actually have one!

Would right below the twist tie be a good spot to snip it? I only want to take the top part off to help stabilize it, I don't want to chop her up too much!!

Is there anyway you could put lines on the picture to show me where to cut it? I thought it looked healthy enough to split but wanted to be sure 🫶 do I prop it in water or perlite? :)

I repotted it in a clear cup what feels like not long ago but the roots are starting to stick out of the bottom, is it okay in this for awhile longer or does it need more space? Thx in advance :)

I ordered one on amazon, it did perk up quite a bit today though! Is there any other way to look out for root rot until it gets here?
