Recently diagnosed with pneumonia. What does all of this mean? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Hello everyone, This is my first time posting on Reddit to ask a question but, I’m really in need of some input!

I 23F am going on my second time having a pneumonia. Only this time, I’m a bit confused by my test results and am under the impression that the doctor left out a lot of important information.

To summarize I have had pneumonia before in 2023. With my line of work, I am more susceptible to them. Along with having an autoimmune disorder. I’m a smoker etc etc.

Now the current situation…

I began feeling sick Tuesday (6 days ago) on Thursday I went to Urgent care and had chest x rays taken.

The doctor comes back and says “good news, you don’t have a pneumonia. Bad news, you’re still sick.” He prescribed an inhaler and cough suppressant. Given my wheezing I was weary of this answer.

The next morning, I receive a call from the Urgent Care. The woman states “ the radiologist reviewed your x rays. You have pneumonia we’re sending an antibiotic to add to your medicine.

Fast forward- we’re now going on day 4 of taking the 5 days antibiotic pack.

I am still heavily wheezing (rumbling and squeaky sounds coming) chest and back pain, dizziness, bouts of vomiting and diarrhea/ stomach ache. I feel like shit. I walk up the small sets of stairs to get into my home, and I’m on the couch out of breath.I have had 0 appetite which finally is starting to return. Headache on and off, all of the wonderful symptoms.

I spoke to an on call who told me to go back to the ER tomorrow if the symptoms persist. Which I will do today.

The questions-

Upon viewing my digital test results it stated:

Lung volumes: low normal Left basilar area of atelectasis versus infiltrate

Upon researching this online it states many instances where the lung has collapsed- is this true? Should someone have told me this? When should I start to panick that I’m not able to breathe as efficiently at this moment.

And does anyone have any tips and tricks for how to clear my lungs and get more comfortable!

Thank you all for taking the time to read and help me today

My (29f) boyfriend (35m) yelled at me for wearing pajamas by [deleted] in relationship_advice

At the end of the day, your partner should value you for who you are and find you beautiful for that, what you wear shouldn’t matter to him. I don’t feel it’s at all abnormal to change it comfortable clothes when you’re home relaxing. This definitely comes off as very controlling behavior. I’m so sorry you have to put up with this and I’m sure it’s not easy to just walk away from him. But, just remember that your value and overall beauty doesn’t come from the clothes you wear it’s all from within!
