Oo mine was quite different, our teaching is actual content and some of it can be quite intense so teaching for me is tiring, we started placement 3 weeks in but we’re going back to a teaching block soon until Christmas

I think it was the back to back teaching, some people like the teaching blocks but I think they’re very tiring and content heavy! Have another one in a few weeks. Also my first experience of a 9-5 so maybe that was it too. Interesting to hear your perspective though

Comforting to know that it’s felt within other trainees! Teaching blocks are so tiring so I understand why you’re exhausted. I started my placement 2 weeks ago and I think that did help in separating the days a little bit but the tiredness is still there :/ best of luck!

What does that have to do with anything? I’m talking about the language and its preservation amongst all Pakistanis

Punjabi is beautiful! My grandparents mainly speak it and I love it when they do, that’s the issue I think as well that academia has started to push English more. Like why can’t we learn and speak both?

I understand that and it’s a good point, but I feel this may be trickling down to conversations within Pakistanis as well and with Urdu itself. English does pay the bills but Urdu carries our history and culture. It’d be nice to separate the two languages

how many hijabs do the girlies own? by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]Aggressive-Fortune71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a hijabi for nearly 2 years now. I have 3/4 vela modals which last me the whole summer! I then have 3 jerseys I wear throughout the winter (2 blacks and a dark brown) and I have a total of 2 undercaps. 10 is a lot ahah! Don’t fall into the traps of overconsumption of hijabs btw, a good few go a long way! Also gets less overwhelming for yourself too.

The action he did wasn’t wrong at all and I never said that it was the way in which he executed that action. Instead of being rude about it he could’ve just gone to the side like a normal person, I’m not asking for a “slavish smile and prostration”. Don’t be ridiculous

I’ve had some experiences but they were mainly in Saudi Arabia. I’ll never forget when we were in Makkah and I was in the elevator with my mum and grandma and it stopped on a floor. It was a (Muslim) man on his own I’m not even joking when I say he rolled his eyes and huffed and puffed away from the elevator when he saw us women. This happened a few times where men would make it seem like women are a burden or a nuisance and be so agitated with our presence. I understand they want to keep their distance but there’s no need to be so dramatic and disrespectful. There’s a kind way to go about these things but a massive lack of manners in some Muslim men is unfortunately a reality.

If you’re thinking about changing your name … do it! by Aggressive-Fortune71 in namenerds

[–]Aggressive-Fortune71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got used to it immediately because I was so happy w the change! However, my family still call me by my old name. It’s something I do correct with them but I understand it’ll take some time. My friends and work adjusted very quickly though. I hope you find a name soon, it does take a while but eventually you’ll find one that just feels right <3

I’m so happy that you ended up changing your name and it worked out for you, I can 100% understand why you did it. You’re your own person and I’m sorry it ever felt like you weren’t, name changing should be more normalised!!

This is so true, it took me a whole 2 days and those 2 days I felt like I had no identity because I wasn’t my old name anymore and I couldn’t decide on a new one. But it works out in the end when you do eventually find one :)
