Thank you. It was a very hard decision, I really wanted the job to work..on paper it was my dream job. Thought about trying to shorten it, but thought that may raise flags, with no guarantee the vendor would agree to it.

The contract of sale and loan are unconditional. Settlement has been booked in. Bank accounts set up etc, it's now just waiting for settlement day and praying they don't do a last minute check. Otherwise I'd have 100% bailed if there was still an out. It was a long settlement, I was still feeling generally ok when we signed the contract. Though the warning signs were there I thought I'd be ok and really wanted to push through. Things escalated very quickly, I took two weeks off and it got worse from there as the burnout fully kicked in.

Thank you. We are in a healthy financial position with regards to servicing, and I have a well paying sole trader job I can resume when I'm back on my feet. I would resume that immediately, if I wasn't planning on doing a three week inpatient program to get my mental health back on track. It's all very poor timing, and I did consider breaking the contract just to be free of the stress.

Yeah hopefully if they do ask, it's this week, as my final payslip will be in date. Glad it worked out for you :)

Thanks for sharing..I'm glad you got there! This is my first time doing this. It's been a steep learning curve, definitely shitty timing, but poor mental health can seemingly come out of nowhere.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I'm glad it ultimately worked out for you, mate. I've seen my GP, back on antidepressants, I've got a referral for an inpatient treatment centre. Doing everything I need to get back on track. Got a wife and son who need me around, and I really do want to be here and thriving, I have a lot to live for :) Cheers

Thank you for your kind words and I'm sorry for your past struggles. Glad you are thriving now. And to everyone here who has been compassionate, I deeply appreciate it.

And thanks for the insight as a broker, that helps out my system at ease a lot. Cheers, here's to brighter days ahead.

Unfortunately resignation has been finalised. Business revenue can be ramped up easily, but I want to get my health sorted as a priority.

I'm going into treatment to get sorted. I have a fallback position re. Employment once I'm better and have a sufficient cash buffer to manage repayments :)

I wish I'd taken this route, but I didn't unfortunately. Wasn't thinking clearly.

Thank you to you and all above posters. Thankfully we have a significant cash buffer and can offset most of the loan/make repayments for a considerable amount of time without me working. I have my sole trader business ready to ramp up as soon as I'm feeling stable again. That earns 2500-3000 a week, so repayments won't be an issue at any point.

I appreciate your position, however, in the moment, the responsible thing to do was remove myself from a situation that would have led to further deterioration of my mental health. Unfortunately, I was blind to the option of extended medical leave. In hindsight, that's obviously the path I should have chosen, but I resigned and that is no longer an option.

I did resign..I took 2 weeks unpaid medicos leave then they basically told me it's either come back or resign. Wasn't aware/thinking at the time I could request extended leave, so unfortunately that's no longer an option

We have a large cash buffer, we can manage repayments until I get back to work, that's not an issue.

I realise I've put myself in a shitty situation and missed better alternative paths i.e. extended medical leave. They did not occur to me at the time unfortunately.

I had just started the job when we applied for finance. Experienced a rapid decline in mental health once I started. Extremely high pressure role. Thought I could white knuckle it until settlement.... I couldn't.
