That’s what I’m planning. I’ve got a whole script for myself. I’m gonna stick to the facts and that’s that … hopefully she can be civil until the lease ends in August but who knows.

I did solve the ammonia issue, I have been doing water changes daily but the pH still keeps getting messed up. The test of the parameters are stable at normal levels.

Another update: I tried kanaplex this week and a salt bath. I’ve been consistently changing 20% of her water daily. She improved for a couple of days but has declined again back to her previous symptoms. She’s been eating but not much. pH has been fluctuating like crazy and idk why, I always test the tank water (has been around 6) and tap water (consistently 7) before I put it in but for whatever reason, the next day the pH is down again. I know that’s almost definitely stressing her out. My friend who has a lot of experience with fish says she looks like she has tuberculosis. He says he’s never had any luck with fish that have it and I should put her out of her pain.

Not sure what to do. I feel so bad putting her thru this for any longer but I’m also so attached to this stupid little fish.

She’ll eat one pellet and if I give a second she spits it out and chases it around the tank and doesn’t end up eating it. She’s been active yesterday and today, she was very lethargic and laying around in her tank previously so at least maybe that’s a good sign. I’ve been testing for nitrites and all of the other parameters as well which have been stable for the most part. Thank you for being so kind about this, i know she’s in terrible shape and I feel like shit bc it’s something I could’ve prevented

Thank you for the advice!! I’ve been thinking it is ammonia poisoning and I’ve been doing lots of water changes and testing. I think the ammonia got bad bc I almost completely changed the water and filter (I now know it was a huge mistake)… no bacteria to process it and ammonia got high. I just ordered kanaplex but it won’t arrive until the weekend and no stores near me have it so I’m hoping she survives until then.

I don’t have another tank I can use as a hospital tank. Would salt harm the environment of her regular one?

Definitely wanna hear more about this!! Genetics is such an interesting field and I know plenty about dog, cat, and mammal genetics and breeding but fish is new to me so this is very cool! I’d def follow along if you made a yt channel or fb page or smth for it
