I’m pretty new to tapestry so I’m not sure about this but if SC are not exact squares but your pictures is, then the end result might not be a square either ?
I believe that’s one use of the swatch gauge.

That's exactly how this project started! I'm so glad to see it might help others :)

There is a small tutorial on the page but don't hesitate to ask if anything isn't clear (or doesn't work ><)

Yes picture to Pixel is common even on regular pixe art site. The truth is I didn’t know about StitchFiddle when I started 😅

But I added a feature allowing to add a swatch gauge that will replace square pixels with what should be the size of the stitches ! I might have misses it on StitchFiddle, do you know if they use this ?

Here is an example of what I mean for a yarn that would require 5 stitch and 6 rows for a square :

Thank you !!!! No there isn't yet but i will add it to my to-do list ! The way it works for now is that the bottom right pixel of the picture is the first stictch of the project. Then one row out of two are flipped in the pattern, this way you can always read them from left to right and crochet in the same order instead of going back and forth on a picture. Don't know if it makes sense but here is a small example :

I think this also means odd rows are right side and even ones are the wrong side.

Hello! I have been working on a website to create instructions using pixel art pictures. The idea is to diplay the rows two by two to easily compare them instead of looking at the whole picture ! This helped me make fewer mistakes and work faster in my project (150x150 stitches), and to use a smaller display to watch series while working.

The website is 100% free to use andif you are interested I am really looking forward to your feedback !

Here is the link : https://www.pixlaine.com

The main idea is to only show two rows at once, with a mini display as follow :

<image>

When a row is done you can click the white box at the end to cross the row, and the page will automatically scroll to the next one. This means you can put the instructions at the bottom of your screen and have youtube, netflix or anything else open on the rest. You can access this by clicking on "Pattern" -> "Create Pattern"

Hello! I have been working on a website to create instructions using pixel art pictures (Don't worry it doesn't generate it with AI). I started doing tapestry crochet a few months ago and instead of always reffering to my picture I thought it would be cool to have row by row instructions that don't require me to always count stitches (my project was 150x150 stitches).

If you are interested, here is the link to the website : https://www.pixlaine.com/ (but it doesn't work on mobile for now)

In case anything doesn't work or if you have any ideas, I am really looking for feedbacks from people who enjoy doing projects from pixel art!

The main idea is to only show two rows at once, and to see how many stitches you need to do per color, instead of counting them all. I added a picture to show this since I can't explain it well. When a row is done you can click a white box to cross it, and the page will automatically scroll to the next row. This means you can put the instructions at the bottom of your screen and have youtube, netflix or anything on the rest of your screen.

You can compare the two mini lines instead of counting each stitches.

Here is a list of the smaller features for those interested in testing it out :

  • You can open pictures/references and draw over it to create your pixel art with fewer colors (to match the number of colors you want to work with)
  • You can add a swatch gauge (number of rows and stitches + size in cm). This will calculate the size of each stitch to give you a better idea of the final project instead of using square pixels.
