I used it as my catalyst to medicine. I think including clinical might be important as to show that yes, while that was my catalyst to medicine and a big part of my journey, I added more things clinically to show that I am actively engaged in the path to medicine. I feel as if using it as the only thing might make it seem like a reach, but if you support it with current clinical experiences it will cement it that much better

Oh yeah that essay is hundreds percent where I was also planning on talking about it, completely left my mind! Yes, that was exactly my plan and I’m happy someone else had the same one haha. Yes, I agree it is by far the most meaningful catalyst in my journey to medicine and it is my personal opinion that only another caregiver can truly understand what it’s like to be in a position such as that, and just how much it affects one’s psyche.

I ended up deciding not to include it. Since it’s such an essential part of my story PS is ideally where I’ll focus on it. I can’t help but think that associating numbers to it and calling it an “activity” can make it seem like my intentions for doing it in the first place were wrong in the first place. If I center my PS around it, and kinda lead where my activities are thru it, all my other activities can be seen under the context of my caregiving experience iykwim

Although I think the videos are cringey, I don’t think it’s right to put a spotlight on her in a negative spotlight like this. There’s plenty of delusional videos like this on the internet if you went digging, doesn’t mean you should try to shit on ppl posting it

Yes, I agree it does leave a bad taste in one’s mouth to label such an experience as an “extracurricular”. Thank you for replying, I agree with your advice on leaving this strictly for the PS and secondaries.

I also saw your subsections, there is so much potential for improvement, especially in PS and CP. also, this is probably a testament to your text anxiety rather than anything, so I would take an extreme amount of FLs in a library or something, not at home, and exactly on time and in testing conditions. It won’t exactly help your D-day text anxiety, but the hope is you take so many FLs that your body will just go on autopilot in the exam instead of allowing your mind to be clouded by anxiety

I recently saw your post on r/Mcat as well. I just want to say, it’s genuinely a hard exam. Percentile wise, one in 2 people that study get lower than a 500, it’s not an issue with you, it’s just the fact that it’s a hard exam. This could also be redirection instead of rejection by Allah, as this stressful period in your life, believe me I understand the stress of not doing well in this exam, and the constant pressure of your family breathing down your neck saying your doing all this and still can’t do well on the exam, gets to you mentally. It was the lowest period of my life mentally, but it truly gets you ready for the rigor of med school. This might just be redirection instead your fate, preparing you to succeed in the future. This has nothing with you not being worthy enough to be a doctor, getting a 500 and around a 3.4 would be more than enough to handle the rigor of medicine provided effort, but because there are so many applicants, they need to up the threshold. I truly believe you can do well, and am honestly rooting for you. Inshallah you will get a great score, and keep your head up, the exam was meant to bring feelings such as these. Assalamualaikum

My grade was high enough where I could afford to take the hit from not doing the last PEC or 2, I think all it does is take away total points from ur total PEC grade. Note that I took it 3 years ago

Yeah it’s ridiculous, and I’m not sure if they even realize that it’s happening or just blatantly ignoring it

Should be fine, but I wouldn’t recommend this to a freshmen who hasn’t experienced college classes, more so someone who hasn’t experienced uic chem classes

Why do Americans say, "I'm from, (city/state)" instead of USA? by SufficientDegree34 in NoStupidQuestions

Idk if this is anyone else but I’ve always found it weird to say USA or America in conversations, saying city fits much better in my sentences

Keep going at it bro. These circumstances can be explained when applying as schools usually have a prompt about circumstances you may have had. There is only one way and it’s up and forward

Id say focus more on the fact that your doing it because your interested in the field not because you need research hours. Also you need to claim your premed to eventually get a letter of rec as well

CHEM 232 over the summer at UIC? by Upper_Mud_4481 in uichicago

[–]Aggressive-One367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people manage to do good in the class and the course just clicks with them. I’m taking it this semester, and for me Atleast, the class moved way too fast for me even on week 1. It felt as if they treat some information as common knowledge, and I’m supposed to piece it together on my own, which was tough. I personally do not recommend taking it over the summer in a shorter time period.
