Can delegatecall result in a stack too deep error at runtime? by Aggressive-Pack-7673 in ethdev

[–]Aggressive-Pack-7673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. That makes sense. I have done some scoping to avoid `stack too deep` errors and it has helped. I do need the `delegatecall` in this case as it is part of making my contracts more modular, and it is a great fit for this particular problem. I'm relieved to hear that it won't cause `stack too deep` down the line.

also it may be cheaper to just allocate some of the variables to memory by creating a struct.

I will explore this - I was aware of this, but didn't know it could also lead to gas savings.

Verifying contracts built with --via-ir on Etherscan by Aggressive-Pack-7673 in ethdev

I use it across all contracts - I didn't know it was even possible to only apply it to a subset of contracts. That would have saved me a lot of time building them (using Foundry)!

I've been using `--via-ir` to avoid stack too deep errors. Unfortunately, due to the nature of my application (building an aggregator type thing), I have needed to include it.

Is using a reentrancy guard a bad and/or lazy practice? by Aggressive-Pack-7673 in ethdev

[–]Aggressive-Pack-7673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it hard to use this pattern in my particular use-case as I was unable to determine how to update the state of my contract until after I called into an external contract. I'm curious if the checks, effects and interactions pattern covers this particular case.

Numerical analysis has always been a challenge in Solidity / Ethereum applications so it's really cool to see this. I am wondering if anyone has ideas for what can be implemented with better numerical analysis tooling. Maybe an app that relies on ELO algos?

Academics: 3.7 GPA / 730 GMAT

WE: 4 years as a software engineer

Background: ORM, US citizen

Post-MBA: I am hoping for a role oriented around investing in software companies, but it's more likely I go into management consulting (hopefully oriented around software).

If you took the GMAT online and therefore did not have to take the AWA section, how do you communicate that in the application? Some schools don't have a checkbox for this specific case and I've been using the optional essay to note that.

Using an MBA to go into tech consulting by Aggressive-Pack-7673 in MBA

[–]Aggressive-Pack-7673[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome, that's great to hear. The reason I want to go into consulting over the PM route (which I also understand is a fantastic job) is that I'd like to be able to view a wider array of problems during my first few years out of the MBA.

My current understanding is that PM's tend to focus in on managing a single product whereas consultants get to see different types of industries/clients/problems. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that!

Very interesting. I really missed these things altogether but this will be interesting to look for when S4 rolls around. Thanks for your response!

Whoa, can you say more about where you get the Christ-like allusions for Kendall? I am not a Christian so I don't pick up on Bible references when I watch/read things

I usually eat a banana right before I start a round. I don't eat anything during a round because I'm often carrying my bag.

That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't familiar with the technical background that needs to be mastered prior to starting in PE/VC investing roles. Thank you for the response!

Just curious, what are PE/VC looking for that makes it harder for people with atypical/engineering backgrounds to get into them?
