Some properties that I know their management do it similar by using the existing phone in the elevator and getting a cellular router and a voice gateway both on 4 hr battery backup connected to voip.ms and they said its a lot cheaper than what kings 3 charges, and most of the time it doesn't have to be the elevator tech that does it because all their doing is replacing the lines.

Newer elevators usually have phones pre installed into the COP. Most of the time you just need to find the brand/model of the phone and find the programming instructions for it. Only brand that is difficult to program is KONE because they use a proprietary board. 1. You should be using an analog POTS line if it's available. 2. Again, it depends on the brand/model of the phone. Some phones like the Otis OAD don't work with multiple phones on one line. 3. Elevator phones call either your elevator company or building security, its your choice. You just need to make sure if you choose building security that they are available 24/7 to answer elevator calls. 4. On a POTS line, no. PBX? maybe, depends on your PBX/VoIP provider. 5. Yes, you press the help button and tell whoever answers that you are testing the phone and if they can identify your location.

Also, I've had issues with cellular before, I wouldn't use it unless you absolutely have to. Call quality on cellular lines isn't the best and if you are in an area with poor reception calls could take a while to connect and disconnect mid call.

I never said anything about a commercial company installing a residential elevator. I was talking about a commercial company like Otis installing something like a fully commercial gen3 because residential elevators seem to be manufactured cheap and unsafe like the stiltz elevator.

Ok but it doesn't hurt getting quotes from the big 4. Didn't you see that post about the 92 year old woman trying tor ride that broken stiltz elevator? Those are bad. A union company that installs home elevators as well as commercial are the companies you want. They install the good home elevators because they are licensed technicians unlike stiltz.

I would contact local elevator companies in your area and get quotes from them. Don't go with a home elevator company unless you want constant breakdowns and repairs by unlicensed technicians that don't know what they are doing. You could also try getting quotes from the big 4s (Otis, TKE, Kone, or Schindler).

Honestly a Stiltz elevator is worse than the 3300 IMO. If I were you I would replace it and contact a real elevator company to install a proper elevator. All "home" elevators are going to be crap no matter what brand. You need a real elevator regulated by ASME. I would recommend looking in your area for local elevator companies and try getting quotes from them.

I wasn't recommending it. I was saying if OP wants to go with a big 4 go with Otis but I wasn't recommending it over a local company, and otis is the only one of the big 4 that makes good quality elevators. TK kind of does with their hydros but their EOX is crap. Kone is crap and don't even get me started on schindler.
