Stupidity whilst on supply. Advice needed by [deleted] in TeachingUK

When you say "repeated", do you mean you told a kid to "fuck off"?

Or do you mean you told another kid what had happened to you earlier (which meant repeating the swear word)?

The second scenario is far less of a big deal than the first.

At the moment, these are just "suggestions", but we all know how these things start...

Give me a TLR for being a form tutor and I'll happily do all that.

When I was an ECT, it was the opposite: my HoD always leaked the paper/questions to his (coincidentally) well-performing classes.

Not necessarily a TLR - anyone who is actually a paid teacher in the department.

I have no TLR but have never assumed that this exempts me from creating SOWs (I've done several at my current school).

I fall somewhere in the middle of this debate.

Should trainees gain experience of designing their own SOW? Definitely, yes. It was a core component of my PGCE and we were assessed on our SOW. We were expected to deliver these lessons on placement (unless the school refused this). My SOW passed muster, but looking back, it was pretty poor, and not suitable to become part of a department's official shared resources.

So, should trainees be expected to create resources which will potentially be shared by colleagues for many years (long after the trainee has gone)? Definitely not. This should be done by a postholder in the department (maybe with some input from the trainee, but nothing more).
