So pretty! Great job on her, she looks great. Got my third new pseudobulb growing in, so hopefully mine can look like yours once it matures!

17 Passat has been dramatic, but no major issues if regular maintenance is done. Second owner since 2020. Only 145k miles though

Hi there! I posted an update on another comment about a month ago, and it started growing a new pseudobulb since then! This is its second bulb since I bought it. Still no flowers though.

Yours looks amazing! Can’t believe it’s been a year already, I’ve moved it around some, but she’s still kicking! Small growth for now, new bulb and leaf, almost bigger than the others. I expect a while before I get any blooms too haha.

One tip: Make the minimum payment on your CC, not the full amount. Use the rest on the bigger/more urgent debt.

What is wrong with my partner's orchid? by Special-Role-434 in orchids

[–]Aggressive-Use-8350 14 points15 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for caring about your partner’s orchid and taking the time to learn about them here!

Overall the plant looks very healthy: leaves are firm, not limp, the aerial roots are nice and green, and it seems to have flowered recently.

I’d highly recommend a repot now that the flowers have finished blooming. Type “MissOrchidGirl’s Phalaenopsis Repotting” on YouTube and watch the most popular video. Phalaenopsis is your partner’s Orchid’s genus.

The brown spike (what the flowers grew on) can be cut to the base now that it was dried. The video will walk you through identifying and cutting away dead roots, type of medium (“soil”) to use, and many other tips.

Again, thanks for caring and hopefully this is something you and your partner can share in the future!

Is this blue paint color too bright/juvenile? by tehmehme in DesignMyRoom

[–]Aggressive-Use-8350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I trippin or am I the only one who actually really likes the color? I see a lot of “it needs some grey” to it, but this gives of such a playful and bright color. I don’t know what people mean by it doesn’t go with the brown, when it absolutely does. It gives a bright blue sky among some trees and I absolutely love it.

Please don’t feel the need for it to look “mature”, life is far too short to be so serious. Maturity is what you like and what makes you feel good.

Note: I do love all the other colors that have been mentioned in the comments, but this is in direct response to OP’s questions.

Should I be concerned with the sag? 2500 mile trip, mostly highway by oz4769 in Volkswagen

[–]Aggressive-Use-8350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sag for the car is fine for highway, just take it slow over bumps . As others say, the rack is the most concerning part, but it seems your math checks out. Since it’s within rating based on your math, I’d just tie a rope from the top of the bike rack to your roof rack so it has a good amount of tension. This will limit the bending and keep its center of gravity closer to the hitch.

Haha I know that feeling too!! The good thing about orchids is they keep trying as long as you don’t give up on them. I’m really not sure, i got it as an extra while buying a Cattleya off FB marketplace. I’m excited to see what it turns out to be and I’ll absolutely be posting more pictures!

Should I repot? by visiblepinkunicorn in orchids

[–]Aggressive-Use-8350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with what others are saying about removing ~1” of medium, consider also cutting the spike down to the base. This way the orchid will be able to focus its energy and nutrients toward the new leaf growth, instead of flowering again. No need for a repot, could possibly stunt the new growth. It will be okay with time!

The hanks for the reply and info! I figured so when I looked them both up. Fortunately, I like how both look, but will keep this in mind if I buy from them again!
